Hello together,

i really enjoy what you did here making these milestones playable online again! Thx for that.

Yesterday a friend and me wanted to give it a try but we couldnt figure out how to get rid of this problem:

My Connection is hosted at Unitymedia in Germany and is Dual Stack Lite with IPv6 and IPv4. Friends Connection is provided from Vodafone and he has only IPv4.

I openend the Port 16000 on both PC's in the Windows Firewall and on both Routers but everytime i checked it with online tools the port was closed on both public IP's and we couldnt establish a p2p connection when he joined my lobby or the other way around.

Had anybody the same problem, maybe even with Unitymedia (because I know their Dual Stack kind of sucks) or got some tips to solve this problem?

Thx for any reply!

Greets,

Aceleron

Well I remember we had this problem popping up a few months ago. You might want to check out this subforum if you haven't done so already and make sure to also check the cnc online support subforums for the same problem.

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

Searched for Topics containing IPv6 in the BFME2 Forum but didnt found anything to this problem. Going to search through CNC Online Forum tomorrow.

So we tried it with several other Users today and on my Friends Account it worked with a random dude who has an ONLY IPv6 Connection through his Provider.

Another Friend who has only IPv4 could also play with him.

Only one more friend and me couldnt establish a connection (both Unitymedia/KabelBW with DS-Lite IPv6 & IPv4) to anybody! Not even the two Unitymedia Customers could connect to each other!

Well im gonna call Unitymedia tomorrow asking for a alternative to DS-Lite or something to get rid of this problem.

Seems like the CarrierGradeNAT is the weak spot here, so the connection tries to reach me through IPv4 but through i have to share my IPv4 Address with a tons of other users it never reachs me. Any workaround that is known that changes the standard to IPv6?

Unfortunately the problem is not easy to solve, it's like you said. Here are some further hints:

Options involve asking your ISP for full stack or business upgrade (for IPv4).

Thx ICT for your help.

Going to call Unitymedia today and asking for Full Dual Stack or a just IPv6 Connection. Tried that a few months ago because I couldnt host any Minecraft Server anymore but their only solution back then was upgrading to a Business Connection with 100€ just for getting a new Connection and because they "have to" send a technician for a business connection. Maybe I can get an Full DS now they said there could be more options after 1.8

//UPDATE: As I expected they still have no other solution for the whole thing then upgrading for a Business Connection... with the little difference that they are at higher costs per month now then 4-5 months ago. Going to try an universal portmapper that may work around the CarrierGradeNAT IPv4. If I have a positive result im going to post it here
