This game is beginning to be almost unplayable for players who like to play with rules. Especially with noob rules. We have played this game many years and the problem is only getting worse. Every time I play with my friend we clearly state our rules in the pregame lobby and require other players to accept them. But even that is not enough. Almost every players rushes before time is up and builds superweapons, auroras etc. Is there any way we could ban these players from playing if we provide enough evidence from them cheating. (screenshots from chat and replays for example). This game is also unplayable without rules because of the obvious overpowered units like alpha auroras and for players who don't like pro rules or no rules games this is really a big problem. Also many players have very bad attitudes and often are very insulting. If this happens and we can record that is there any way to give them cooldown from playing zero hour.

This is how we make sure that players confirms our rules.

Here is small example of rule breaker in our noob rules game, but they are usually even worse.

Here is my file where I can check who has broke rules and how they have done it.

I totally agree! The biggest problem in zero hour is the players themselves. They are insulting, toxic, lying, and unreliable in general. There should be a way to deal with these kind of people from ruining the gaming experience from us who just like to have fun (even in non rules games)! And if you agree the rules and decide to break them anyways you are just sad win fisher or troll who wants to get joy out of other peoples misery or anger... What is your policy to these kinds of actions and players? Admins?

There is no such thing as noob rules, pro rules etc. outside GameRanger (and even there, it's a construct made by noob players who don't play competitively). Not adhering to them is not a bannable offence, and never was, even in GameSpy days.

This does not even begin to qualify as cheating. Have a look at the Zero Hour Cheat Accusations forum on GameReplays to see what does, particularly this thread.

However - if you encounter players that are consistently rude, you can report them, as we don't tolerate toxic behavior on the server. Take screenshots, and report either here or at Gamereplays.

Regarding 'noob rules', it might be worth looking into expanding the way we handle this. As Plokite says, no service (us nor GameSpy) has ever punished people for breaking player-created rules. Still, I can understand the frustration. Perhaps we can set up something so that a player hosting a game with certain rules can explicitly ask for their opponent to agree to these rules and screenshot the agreement, so that once said opponent does break the rules, he can be warned. Might be something to look into.

I can understand that player created rules are not in any way "real" but the main problem is not in breaking the rules but players attitude. I am pretty much with Mathijs. But your answer was not very polite, You said that all noob rules players are noobs and dont know how to play competitively. But let me tell you neither me or liinor are noobs but we enjoy playing with noob rules (competitively). We are just annoyed that it doesnt seem to be possible in this game.

This service, like GameSpy before it, was built upon a community that plays either highly competitively or casually but without any player-imposed "rules". No true competitive player ever uses "pro rules", as you can see in any tournament, any replay and any video cast of any RTS game, particularly Zero Hour (see YouTube channels of Generals Gentlemen, cncHD, DoMiNaToR and others). It's not being "impolite", it's being real.

Competitive gameplay is what brings us activity, views, tournaments and attention, hence we base our focus on few simple rules - don't use cheats/hacks/exploits, don't do intentional disconnects or mismatches in ranked play, don't abuse the lobby and don't make multiple accounts. Accomodating every single wish from every single newcomer would lead us to nowhere.

Accusing someone of cheating is one thing (I saw a SCUD bug claim in your Excel file, you guys would better go report that in the ZH Cheat Accusations forum along with a replay for proof), while accusing someone of not respecting completely made-up rules some may not even be aware of is another.

The problem here is that the game is not balanced. We just try to make it more playable with rules like "no alpha auroras" because the game wont be recieving any official patches. And I know that you cant do anything about it. I have played this game for many many years so atleast I´m not a newcomer. I just like rules games and I want to play those with all my skill. And I expect respect and honesty from other players. The game has no ingame reporting system like newer titles so getting rid of toxic people is hard. And the list is mostly for us to see who has cheated in our games. It´s not like everybody would go check our list. propably no one is.

Faxmore got banned already few year ago on when i reported him on gamereplays, but this is list that I use is only to avoid playing with these players. But can we also list rest noob rule breakers there then?

True, the game is unbalanced, but others can cope with that, as seen in numerous tournaments held on 1.04 only ever accompanied by GenTool. You can, however, try out the unofficial 1.06 patch that rebalances the game considerably (though you can't play with 1.04 players while running 1.06 and vice versa).

Superweapons, however, are a normal element of the game, and I don't see how "X min no rush" helps in overcoming the game's downsides, frankly.

My godness, why you just dont download some maps, where you have water in the middle that wont dissapear before 10 minutes left. Then you have your 10 minutes to put up 100325342523525 Bunkers and sit there waiting for the enemy to attack. Problem solved.

Serious i always wonder why poeple claim that it is fun when you cut half of the content out of game. Absolute ridiculus. Just cause some people are too alzheimer to scatter their untis when a aurora approaches that doesnt mean that all other have to adapt to this bunker festival games with no everything rules. Just download some map where half of the content is cut out and you have water in the middle for 10 minutes and get happy, instead of desire that 90 % of Zero Hour player should be banned from the servers.

Maximum Fun for player like

No Nukesilo

No Scud Storm

No Partical canon

No Nuke-Mig

No Demo upgrade

No Aurora

No Alpha Aurora

No Demo Ambush

No Demobikes

No upgrades for Nuke General

No Neutron upgrade

3 Humve max loaded

This is just what I mean about the community being toxic. If you dont like to play with rules dont. It really is just that simple. I want to be perfectly clear. Every time we start a game we wait for the players to read the rules and CONFIRM VERBALLY that they have understood and accepted them. And if they decide to cheat even after that I think that we have a good reason to be pissed. And we dont just throw every player to our list just if they annoy us... Do you really think that this kind of behaviour is acceptable. Even if it is not punishable.

Ps. You should learn to be more polite.
Yours truly - TacoMies

Dude , by all respect. This game is 13 years old... If you to this point still dont understand the basic mechnanics and tacticts  and need to play 10 minutes no rush, then you maybe should consider investing some time to learn  how to pull off a early attak, instead of hoping that everybody adapt to your rules. Just an crazy idea.

Alpine, we do welcome all levels of players.

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

Here's another crazy idea: show some class and be polite when engaging in conversation.

Well, if it come to be polite i can agree with you mathijs. Maybe ... the post was a bit harsh.

My apologes to taco mies. Sometimes it need a couple of runs ,but you sure get people on revora that will respect the 10 min no rush rule, there are plenty of no rush players.
