This is fantastic, I was not aware of this feature in Photoshop. =D I'm going to try it but once the snow layer has been cleaned up I will use the Blending Options to emboss the snow, so it looks like it has been piled on and isn't flat on the walls. I'll see what happens.
As far as I know, Blending Options are something unique to Photoshop in its simplicity. There are ways to get the same effect in GIMP but it would be a different process.
Also good to see what appears to be an Arnor structure...

Embossing what remains of the snow texture after blending isn't possible, as the remains aren't a separate layer, just the only parts visible of the complete snow layer.
I tried to find a way to do it, but no luck so far.
