China and North Korea are actually on allied side in vanilla RA2! Wtf is this? Especially North Korea.

Oh wait... So Korea was never divided in that timeline?

No, it was. Take a closer look at the maps I posted above (campaign and Korea's skirmish loading screen). North is present there, but it is colored blue, meaning it is with allies.

It is a good example of how Westwood screwed up with the world map. I bet half of their coloring was made without any particular reason.

Also, the entire world has inexplicably chosen a side between Allies and Soviets at the beginning of the war.

And Antarctica has sided with the Allies. How could anyone forget the brave penguins that fought alongside the Allied Forces against the communist threat?

And this is completely crap, because if they actually sided with the Allied why would the country be separated from the beginning? Make no sense.

Either Westwood forgot to change it at the last minutes or the map was made like that for "sensitive" reasons.

For reasons unknown they used a real life world map for a completely fictional alternate history world with countries and borders which could never exist in Red Alert 2 (due to a completely different World War II in Red Alert 1), without providing any plausible explanation.

Well, sometimes Westwood were confused in their own lore. I have just checked the game manual.

RA2 states that the USSR was led by Alexander Romanov, while in RA2 manual his name is "Alexi" (Aleksei) – these are two completely different names in Russian.

And there is no proper explanation of previous events except for Stalin was evil, Allies defeated Stalin, now Romanov is evil and attacks the USA for the glory of mother Russia.

Even Indonesia was listed as Allied country :o

Actually it kinda makes sense, we were occupied by Japanese and was freed because they surrendered. No WW2, no freedom.

It seems there are more and more need for an sort of official-unofficial MO political map from the start of the war to its end.

Good luck sorting everything out, especially due to PF's pact + war with China, LC's loss of European HQ, Euro Alliance on the run + counterattack against Epsilon and the rise of the Foehn Revolt... :p

Political map in RA2 is updated with each mission. Same can be done with MO either officially or unofficially. If we want to make it simple, there may be made maps which only show start of act 1, end of act 1, start of act 2 and end of act 2.

I like this idea, it would be the most realistic approach

At the same time though, I think that a map that updates mission by mission would be quite interesting because it would show how rapid and overwhelming the Soviets' victory was. Then maybe we can have one of those slideshows that animate the war's progress.

Good idea. There can be a specific thread, an authorized wiki page or something similar.

In this case who can do this map? We still don't know what is the fate of various countries in MO like Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, etc. We know that at the start of the war Ukraine was with allies along with other former Soviet republics including Central Asian ones.

This should be done in close cooperation with Speeder and other people who are responsible for the Mental Omega story.

Not sure if this was suggested before: could there be a challenge or co-op mission involving the Seismic Stabilizer(s)?

Might be a nice idea indeed, considering that China has took control over all of them in the end. Could be a Chinese coop, which main objective would be to capture one of these devices.

Nope i think, Russian army spawn their finest units include Apocalypse. Perhaps smaller or larger depends on difficulty.
