I disagree with that, Battle Tortoise (or Fortress) voice replacement is fine, and imo is well done. It's sad that the rest can't be revoiced properly, but I will still recognize their effort.

the tortoise is a fine voice over, but i would rather have the fortress (george exley is a damn fine voice actor). i would not want any accent-discrepancy unit voiced over IF, it is a RA2+YR unit. I would have any MO unit voice that does not match (suppressor fx.), revoiced. of course all the respect to the actors. i didnt have any problems until that stupid BF to BT change was made. its still not justified.

(yes, because judging from campaign and voiceovers PF IS Japan alone and nothing implies the contrary)
sorry, but i had to come back to this weeb point. i remember distinctly the 3.0 faction spotlight video from years back, and it is said that the pacific front is made up of various eastern countries which are not communist. "Japan, Indonesia, Australia...".
to say that pacific front is japan only is stupid, becuase they are in name already, not called japan. they are called pacific front. if USA was more than USA, they're faction would be called something else than USA. i also have already mentioned that hailstorm is from australia, and singularity takes place on the korean border, so that campaign argument is invalid. my weeb sensors are ringing loudly.

i mean i honestly don't have a problem with almost any of the voice overs (one notable exception is the borillo cause he just sounds too casual for a guy driving a monster that can level your base but thats probably because its spoken more like a transport)
you keep talking about how everyone has an American accent which i disagree with cause i feel like most of them sound fairly neutral and i myself have been told a sound like and American/ Canadian despite being born in/ living in Australia all my life so a tank having the wrong accent is makes no less sense especially when EVERY PERSON WHO DRIVES A SPECIFIC TANK OR USES A SPECIFIC GUN TALKING WITH THE EXACT SAME VOICE AND DIALOGUE so when you consider that the accents don't seem as important
but if you still don't like it the i guess you could always go track down hundreds of people from every different country in the game in order to get them to voice lines as ethnically close as possible since clearly neither westwood or the mental meisters have done a good enough job for you. im sure its not gonna be too hard for you

maybe, but weebs have EXACLY this opinion, and weebs are not to be tolerated.

also you keep using the word weeb as an insult but these guys have accomplished so much and being that condescending about such a close branch of gaming culture on a game forum really makes you look like an asshole

Did you forget the tagline of Mental Omega was "Almost Perfect Yuri's Revenge". Also for what you can get from people offering help with voice work this is already good. The Battle Fortress had a change because of people always requesting its Voice/Name Change sounding/looking out of place within the Pacific Front Unique Unit Arsenal.
The Blizzard Fortress is voiced by an actual Australian. Not all Australians sound like Paul Hogan or Steve Irwin (God Bless his soul). And if Speeder wasn't trolling me from way back he said the Kappa Tank and Norio are both voiced by actual Japanese VAs...
So seriously the fact that the units even have somewhat fitting voices is already great enough.

I exaggerated a bit too much, right. PF is not only Japan but also includes Korea, that's right. But other than Hailstorm, what are Australian units in PF arsenal? What units don't have Japanese/KI (which is a Japanese company, probably involving Korea too) origins? Are there missions involving PF set in Australia? Indonesia? It's mostly Asia or other parts of the world where PF remnants are hiding. Yes it's been officially said which countries form PF, that information is canon, but currently only Hailstorm existense proves that PF is in fact not just Korea+Japan but also something else.sorry, but i had to come back to this weeb point. i remember distinctly the 3.0 faction spotlight video from years back, and it is said that the pacific front is made up of various eastern countries which are not communist. i hate weebs, yes, i dont mind looking like an asshole in front of weebs. im honest in my hate of them. but its not about weebs, its about pointless battle fortress voice over.

hmm, i just dont think it sounds australian, but if you say so. i dont hate the voices (besides yunru), i dont hate the battle tortoise either, i just find the change pointless. its out of place, indeed, but so are many others, sooo you know... why is the fortress an exception?

And how does stating this make me a goddamn weeb? Stop calling me a weeb, I'm not one of those waifu lovers nor I even watch animu.
So go recalibrate your sensors or go to their manufacturer and claim your money back, shit is not working properly.
Also I wonder if an average MO player whos primary language is not English can tell an american accent from european accent. Someone did suggest to give Mirage the RA3 VO, but it wasn't accepted for some reason.
the mirage tank from ra3 is not fitting i presume, since its ra2, with ra2 mirage tank. its already stated that while japan is the leading country, its by far NOT the only member of the pacific front. and you are right, i dont know why there are no missions in Australia. (besides that mission in yuris revenge, but thats not MO.)
and yes, the hailstorm is australian, or, at least it was build for australia according to the fluff, prior to the war.

i guess. although i still stand by my point about the battle fortress.
there isnt a way to have the original voiceset for the fortress be set in, instead of the tortoise without causing mismatches, is there?

aaah thank you. i'll look into this i expect some errors, but i dont mind trial and error. im not sure how to do this, but will the respected lines, for the respected move automatically be in place you think?

It depends on whether the new VO use old filenames or not. If yes, you just place the files in correct place and it works, if not, the unit will keep its current voiceover.
what if i find the battle tortoise and remove it, and replace it with the original voiceset? if the game doesnt have the tortoise lines at all, will it keep them? or just be silent?
Posted 05 September 2017 - 11:00 AM
Actually no, voiceset is much more complicated than simply a wav file being put into a mix
