Greetings, fellow humans!

Firstly congratulations on finding this page, GG for you! :thumbsuphappy:

before we start this New Topic, let me introduce myself.

I am Tomasz_exe (no this is not my real name...), known as towerguard89 on moddb.

I life in the Netherlands and I am a great fan of the BFME Series (especially BFME 1) and the Witcher Series. So I thought why not combine my 2 favorite game series? But sins I don't know how to make a proper mod for BFME I thought: "Why not begin with maps from the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt?"

And here I am writing on a BFME forum about bringing the Witcher to BFME...

Now we got that out of the way, let’s talk about the first BFME 1 map I want to make, Oxenfurt.

First some background music:

now that we have some music let’s talk about Oxenfurt.

“Oxenfurt is a Redanian city located on the northern shore of the river Pontar, south of Novigrad. It is famous for its Academy, which is the largest in the Northern Kingdoms. It is about three hundred miles west of Tretogor. The bard, Dandelion is said to simply adore the city. Its bustling and bawdy haven for students, artists, scholars and freethinkers. Here the young reign supreme (in spirit, if not always in fact), a mug of something strong in hand as they blaze new trails in fashion and thought, confident the rest of the world will soon follow.”

-- from the Witcher Wikia, Oxenfurt

I have already a concept for the map:

http://imgur.com/WZFwnx5

(now let’s hope that it shows the image...)

I think that it speaks for itself but still:

·         Circle = player starter position

·         Triangle = outpost

·         Diamond? (can't think of a other name for it at the moment  :smile2ap:) = economic plots

As you can see it is a 5 player map, 2 begin in Oxenfurt themselves and 3 around Oxenfurt.

I am also thinking of makinn other versions such as: 1 player fortress and no fortress (a abanoned version of Oxenfurt, one player start in Oxenfurt in a camp with no control of the gates)

I don't know yet what the will attackers start in (camp or castle)

But enough talk, what do you think of the first concept? Please let me know, any advice is welcome!

P.S. sorry for the typos or bad writing structure, my English is not as perfect as I want it to be...

Firstly, if your computer can handle it, keep the game open and your character in that area so you can walk around the landscape and create as you experience. ;)

Sounds like a good idea! Is there any chance you can adapt the Witcher's concept to something unseen yet in Middle-earth?

1, I have the Witcher 3 installed on my PS4, I just have to find a unused Monitor and I could do it no problem, I didn't think about that so thanks!

2, Here comes the problem, the Witcher 3 is very beautifully but this comes at a cost, you can't recreate everything in World builder, even if the engine could handle it, it would mean that everyone who want to play the map needs a PC that can also run the Witcher 3, (RIP mac).

What I am trying to do is recreate Oxenfurt with all the assets from World Builder (its probably gone look like a Gondor fortress), later on I might write to CD PROJEKT RED and ask nicely if I may use there Witcher assets in the maps. until them I will try to recreate the maps with BFME style.

The Gondor buildings can be modified if you can figure out how to mod the game. Here are my Umbar structures and the originals side by side, although admittingly Umbar and Gondor share culture so the obvious similarity is a good thing. You can do the same thing if, you like, for Oxenfurt.

looks very interesting, I will definitely look in to this because even retextures can help create the illusion of something new!

Trust me, the engine can't handle The Witcher 3 assets. If you want The Witcher 3 assets in BFME, you'll have to make some yourself.

Pre Update: 0.42

Greetings and welcome back to this part of the forum!

I finally got some time again to make Oxenfurt.

let us talk about the "pre-progress"

but first music, of course  :wink_new:

I have made some test fortress maps (you know to try stuff out, and look if you have any clue as how to make maps) and it seems like they work, but only a human can control the fortress... And I have no idea how to fix this, I even tried opening some custom maps and checking how they did it. I feel like I am missing something...

Some other news, I have walked around Oxenfurt a bit and I came up with possible paths for the map:

Oxenfurt_Alpha_PPath1.png

I think that this should work for the map. You can walk around the city walls, and use the swamps or the bridge to the south to safely cross the map without being shot from the city.

When I walked around I also saw a problem with the walls around the city:

Oxenfurt_Alpha_Wall1.png

The existing walls are black and a great place for a proper walls is marked white...

... So yeah, great defenses right? Now the big question is: "the make extra walls (in the map) or to not make extra walls (in the map) " -- quote from someone trying to make a castle.

What do you guys think keep it "original" or make it with some proper defenses?

This is the progress so far, right now I am trying to make the right shape of the map and trying some stuff with the wall models.

If you have any question, advice or something else feel free to post it!
