As everyone knows, I like Alpha & Beta Commandos 2 shit. And because of this, I've probably saved all of the pre-release screenshots that can be found in this deep and wide Web. Just take a look at them, you may find something strange that you never knew about the development of Commandos 2. Also a big thanks to LoneWolf 66 for finding and saving all the pre-release videos that can be found. Have a Beta fun!

Links: Images - Videos

If I found more, I will immediately upload them to my drive.

I personally love watching this older stuff, so thanks. (Especially since games have better graphics nowadays but gameplay has generally regressed, but I just have to say that.)

Edit:

In the BCD section I (long ago) uploaded a mod from the Commandos The Fortress website. Their start page had some wmv's embedded. Like this one:

http://web.archive.o...vies/dive_1.WMV

But I think these vids are just part of the 8:30 minute trailer that's in the video link you posted. (Possibly more worth having if the whole page is saved.)

Yes, that's true, I totally agree with you about the gameplay of new games.
Also, there was a video I really really really... regret that I didn't download it, it was an old gameplay of the Alpha version of the game made by a fucking german website called Gamestar. That video was free on Youtube, but sadly the account of the uploader got terminated and the only way to get it now is by paying Gamestar to view their shitty videos.
I've tried the Wayback Machine and it didn't work.

I think you can still find it and port it to the final game from the old Demo version of the game. :)

I have a GameStar vid called "GameStar 06_98 - Commandos (Review)-sWd_8vhwzFo.mp4". I also saved it as webm. And yea, it does use an alpha version to show game play. As you can see in the name the youtube id is sWd_8vhwzFo. So I just did

youtube-dl sWd_8vhwzFo

and it still downloads. Is that what you want?

No, it was the Alpha version of Commandos 2, but I'll try your idea if it still work on deleted videos, thanks anyway. :D
By the way, here is it's old link: https://youtu.be/hscEURFBYvk

Thanks for the prototype screenshots, haha.Although I'm fairly more interested in obtaining the uncut, raw quality videos released from Eidos on its pages through year 2001-2003, that are thought impossible to recover from the internet, after having every vid for comm2 on a Commandos-only portable drive :D:D. So much for the access to the internet infinity..

Actually, don't say impossible, some screenshots and also some videos were taken from the 2000 version of Pyro Studios, Eidos or Gamestar website.

You can recover that shit easily using this Ultra Dimensional Time Machine (Just an Internet archive that have more than 279 billion web pages saved over time). ;)

Have fun while traveling in time! :D

Been there, done that sir! Harvested through half the official directories were archived, fan pages and so on, GameFront mirrors, even peer2peer webservers and forum attachments for the last 5 years of wandering around the "Klondike" (e.g. internet) lol,  BEL and official BCOD media is dead impossible to be found too. For god sake, even..even BCOD logotype larger than 74kbs is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Here are some more alpha screenshots, you'll notice that most of the alpha textures were different than the final ones.

You nailed it again mate! That's the earliest Alpha version I ever saw, and you can see the full map here. As you can see, the bridge was destroyed, Sniper's house was also destroyed, there was more poles and electric cables to climb, no trees in the south, an old tank on the north (probably a C1 one), and obviously the famous big gun.

Also if no one noticed, Sniper's house is sometimes called "Bombarded" in the game files, that means that we were able to destroy it or it was already destroyed.

GB's house had just the ground floor which is the bar on that map version and the piano was replaced by stairs in final, Sapper's house was different. The map was smaller because some roads were cut.

The only big question is: Where did you get those images?

They are from the german 'PC Action' magazine, issue March 1999. I downloaded the PDF file from here: https://archive.org/...agazine-1999-03

Then I used 'Nitro Reader' to extract the images from the PDF.

The details... master's work. I personally like the stealthier approach with the crumbled bridge.Makes the area a bit trickier to clear.

I have finally found the first Alpha picture of Paris! Looks like it wasn't your objective is to detonate the bomb, I think you had to take some artwork, because in real life Hitler took over France and wanted to take some artwork from the Louvre museum (we can clearly see those big boxes near tower and they are probably arts).

I also have found a new bigger alpha picture of Colditz which contain some new differences. Gates were opened, those little factories were a lot different and had a panzer tank nearby, also the river was changed and there was a strange building there.

And also a big picture of Alpha White death. ;)

EDIT: Those aren't normal boxes, they are dynamite probably placed on every tower leg. That means no artwork shit. :(

Differences I should catch on WD? Tents are there, radio communications house (antenna one) stays the same place like on the full game. Was something to the cruiser ship interior ever replaced in the early weeks of development?

Every single time when am lost running through the rooms again & again to take the sailors on to the submarine, my reaction goes like "Do I go around in circles?". Was a real b*tch of mission.

On White Death, the little house were GB was caught hadn't a second floor, instead of that it had a big radar antenna. We can notice that tents positions have changed, machine guns and of course the ladder on the allied submarine. Nazi ship has also some missing doors that leads to the cannons.

Keen eye. Doors, yeah, must be doors. How about, were sea lions featured then? I liked about them able to attack when your close enough :D. Penguins too, you remember?

Jackasses were diving in, going back up on the frozen lake clapping wings against their bodies, chuckling to your actions in between the encounters, ahaha.

Here are the beta shots from Agent MB's post and the final maps, so you can easily spot the differences.
