after not playing for years i decided to start again today. i had to restore my lap top due to a virus from 2 years ago.   i used to play online a lot. now i found out the servers have gone and have to use this system and gentool. i downloaded the patch 1.08 and it installs auto like it should. but when i start the game, in options it says version 1.0  and when i click online it says download update needed.   the patch is not patching the game.   any ideas?

Yes, the automatic update does not work in Generals.   You'll have to use one of the patches from here; Generals Patches. You should run the installer "as administrator" and make sure you game is closed when you do that.

cant get that link to work,  i have downloaded and run the atch 1.08 english off various sites just incase 1 didnt work.  its 19gb big and runs it ow little installer, and at the end it does say its installed but it dont chance anything.   i have also uninstalled the game and reinstalled everything and still nothing

thats the patch.  i have the game on disc.  the patch it downloads is 19mb sorry and runs its own little installer then says update complete but when i start the game its still 1.0

 

http://www.cnclabs.c...ls/patches.aspx    theres where i have got it.and it runs the patch installer and finshes no problem.but still says i need to down load update when i click online and in the option menu it says version 1.   the gentool runs fine with all options on the side also

Perhaps you're not running the patcher as administrator.

now i just installed zero hours off the disc and the patch on the site worked fine with that and installed perfectly fine.  ummmmm i am lost now.  maybe if i put the screen res in the file back to standard then run the patch again. as i didnt adjust zeros res as i just wanted to see if it would work

no difference.   zero patched and worked fine. generals wont patch at all.   arrrrrrrrr whats going on yuh

For some reason, the version number can corrupt at times, but I've never seen it do this all the time. I'll plug this to xezon, he might give an answer to this.

The only thing I can suspect is that you're using the patch for the wrong language version. https://www.gamerepl...ide&tab=9861501
