Introduction:

Hello everybody! After long hours searching through the past using WayBack Machine and Google, I have finally found some interesting, rare and unseen informations about the Commandos series. Have Fun!

Notes:

  • The content of any page may be changed if the page language is also changed.
  • Lots of Alpha & Beta pictures that you never saw are there.
  • You might also find some Beta Demos that you never played on the GameStar CD archive!

Good finds! So GameStar 7/98 : http://www.kultcds.c...x.php?n=395&f=/ seems to have this:

Comandos.exe - 50,430,750 - 1998-05-12 13:44:28

which is twice the size of the demo (creatively called "commandos.exe") that I have. Anybody know this?

Edit: Fok! I only just realized there is a download link at the top of each CDs page, downing it now.

Haha, I have just found that randomly on Google by typing GameStar Archive. I knew that Gamestar old CDs had some Commandos Demos, but I couldn't find them until yesterday. I think there is also a Demo for Commandos 2.

And... it has arrived! It has MUS_BR01.wav and MUS_BR03.wav in much better quality than the 24.4 MB demo I mentioned above. But both have the same (including date and size) FASE0000.wad and FASE0003.wad files. Gotta get my WinME box back to play.

Actually, I was trying to make a story for the introduction of me going through the past, knowing the truth, fight against the time using an Ultra Dimensional Time-Machine which is WayBack Machine and Google, and then I said: Nah, no one likes humor in this forums, so I'll make it boring like usual. :p
By the way, there is a lot more to discover so stay tuned. ;)

There is another version of demo too funnily enough. It has 4 missions rather than 2. It's known as Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines - The Early Battles, i accidentally bought this on ebay thinking it was the full game a long time ago xD, It is on some AOL smartsaver disc and I think was released in the US only. I can upload if anyone wants.

Did the seller present a retail box that made you think it was the full game? Or did the experience make you learn to not go on ebay when pissed?

Anyways, is it worthwhile to post you think, like are there early/other versions of missions or so?

Haha no it was my fault I thought it was just some re-release, didn't realise the early battles is a shorter version.

And well it's same as 1.1 version I think, just has 4 missions + tutorials rather than 20, but weirdly it also contains the 13mb demo aswell on the disc

Assuming official, I collect only official stuff. Yes its not something over the top. A great picture anyway (cut from a wallpaper same as the commandos wallpapers with the insignia in behind?)
