THE GAME FREEZES MID GAME?

Best Answer OnlyNoLimit, 26 February 2017 - 02:32 AM

Hey, Tributoo.

Thanks for your answer.

I did solve the problem and it was frustrating to find a fix, but it's pretty easy.

As I said I downloaded an options.ini file and yes that was the reason, at least I don't have any other explaination.

What I did was to turned down the graphics (low) options ingame - confirmed then I turned the graphics options up again (ultra) ingame.

This seemed to sort of "confirm" my options.ini settings.

Either way it solved the problem ✔️️

Hello everybody!

I recently just installed BFME for a trip down memory lane with one of my all time besties.

I've had the game installed before without no problem really, until yesterday night, where we took a match against AI.

All of the sudden my screen freezes and cannot move, but the audio keeps playing, like if everything is alright. I have to

force restart or signout to be able to get back to desktop. I have never encountered this problem before and it is quite frustrating and I cannot seem to find a solution on the web.

I'm no expert, but like most people who cannot get this game started, including myself used a options.ini file containing all the information. I'm quite curious if the options.ini file

is the result of the problem? I have a quite decent laptop, which should be able to run the game with no problems really.

Windows 10 Home 64-bit

i7-4710HQ

8 GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M

I also tried to lower the resolution, but no help further was made.

There saw a guy posted something about a out of memory issue, but I don't know

since I get no errors or bugs reports at all.

Hope someone out there is willing to help or who has same issues as I do! Share your knowledge!

Yours sincerely, The Frustrated Guy.

Hello, first thank you  for being polite and explain your problem with details.

The options.ini file cant be causing that problem. if it was its fault the game would freeze with any map, no matter if there were AIs or no.

Did you try to run the same match in a different map? Some people have problems with some maps, they crash/freeze right in the start (usually related to the water of the game).

I recommend you try to run the same match in a different map and see what happens, also you should update the drivers of your Intel HD Graphics card, Nvidia graphics card and reinstall directx/Visual C++ redists.

As you are using a laptop, download your drivers from the official website (if its HP then HP drivers, if its MSI then MSI drivers, etc). If you already installed those drivers download the official one for your nvidia card from nvidia website. Also, the game doesnt recognise today's nvidias gfx cards, I am pretty sure its using your Intel HD (which should be more than enough to run this game, I use it to play), so you can check your nvidia control panel, search for "Most EA Strategy Games" and force it to use your nvidia (it's worth to try, maybe this can solve the problem).

What game did you install? Official one, online edition, or...?

PD: the problem you described seem to be with Visual C++ redists or drivers as I wrote, if you dont know what these redists are you can get some info and links from here: https://www.driverea...utable-package/

Download all of them an install them in year order (from 2005 to 2015). Dont worry if any of them tells you that your system doesn't meet the requirements or gives you an error, some of them can't be installed in some PCs.

I hope this can help you fix your problem, cheers.

I am glad you solved the problem, but, it still seems to be with something missing (as I explained in my first answer) or maybe its a problem with your graphics card.

It seems that there is some issue happening when you turn settings to high gfx which means its a problem with your drivers/hardware (not directly caused by options.ini).

I advise you try to make what I explained in my first post, the game is a lot better with high graphics :p (not mandatory tho).

Anyway, enjoy the game ;).
