C&C3: KW connection problems

Best Answer Nallieheai, 07 March 2017 - 10:20 PM

All of the ports you need should already be "open". That does not mean that the Router/Modem are sending information to those ports. That would have to be set on the Router/Modem itself. You can usually open the setting on that by accessing it from the network. You (or someone) would have to google the model to get instructions on how to access the device (it would normally have a password and user name) and what to look for. I am pretty sure that that is what needs to be done here.

I want to thank you for all your help, but i managed to fix it. When i tried putting the PC to DMZ my game just froze when trying to login(this was yesterday), but i tried it once more after restarting my PC as well and it worked, i can now connect to people. Im guessing you're right and that its something in the modem here at my dads causing the problem, but putting my PC to DMZ worked and i guess im just gonna be happy with that since i can play c&c again. =)

Again, thanks for all the help!

So my parents are seperated, yesterday i was at my moms house playing KW online without any problems. Today i moved over to my dads house and suddenly i cant connect to anyone, everyone is telling me i have problems connecting.

I use the same PC at both my moms and dads house(I move it with me), so no settings have been changed, at my moms i have 10/10 Mbps, at my dads i have 1000/100 Mpbs so surely i should just be having a better chance of connecting at my dads?  I could be wrong because im not that good at this sort of stuff. However i am using the following:

OS: Win 10

KW: On Steam

Other than that all i get is the hourglass icon in-game that says i cant connect to other players, if needed ill do the connection test thing or whatever that i read about in the "before-posting" thread, but since it worked just fine yesterday im guessing it has something to do with the network im on now? If anyone with some experience could tell me what could cause it thatd be nice. maybe its a port or something? I did google some first but couldnt find a lot.

I tried activating DMZ, what happened when i opened the game and pressed Login was that my game just froze and wouldnt exit unless i closed it through the task manager. I then disabled the DMZ and logged back in and had the same issue, i couldnt connect with people.

Thanks for reading and sorry for my bad english, its not my first language.

Please do run the connection test. The modem/router may be set up differently at your dad's house. Could you tell me, did you make your last post from there? That will help me to learn something about the connection.

I've looked at your IP history now and I think that mum and your dad are using the same internet provider so we can rule out problems caused by the provider. I think that there must be a setting in the modem or in the local network at your dad's place that is causing problems. Are you able to access that modem? Perhaps if you gave me the manufacture and model I could try to find some instructions. Could you also let me know whether you have been using WIFI at both places?

One more thing you can try for yourself (I don't it will take us any further but it's worth a look) is to look at the in game IP address found in in Options->Settings->Network. That address should begin 192.168 or 10. If it does not please would you let me know (don't post the address in here though). If there is a different address beginning 192.168 or 10. in the drop down, please try that.

Hey, im sorry, if i knew you were wondering about the provider i couldve told you its the same. And i dont ever use Wifi for my PC, i always use a cable. As for the drop down i only have one option(i cant click it) and the IP shown is 192.168.X.XXX.

However i was googling the problem and saw you could open the UDP port 443, TCP 80, 443 and 8080 for the game on EA's website. However i asked my dad to help me and he did open those ports or whatever and when i tried it i would actually connect to like 1/5 players in the lobby. (he had the yellow icon) but the other 4 players had the hourglass. So maybe i have to open some more ports to allow connection from other people?

As for the modem im not really sure, i could have a look at it, but i guess my dad could access it?  Not entirely sure whats the difference between the modem and the router. Hope this helps.

EDIT: Tried opening UDP ports 8088-65535 which is the ports it says are the ones needed for c&c: KW, however this didnt seem to make any difference at all. Found this on portforwarding.com, there was a huge list of games and what ports to open.
