Hi,

I am using the Steam version of Kane's Wrath, OS Windows 7. For about a week or longer my game has been randomly disconnecting. I get different error messages. Sometimes it is "you have been disconnected from the buddy list", sometimes "connection to backend server has been lost" and I have seen other messages too. Did not try to memorize them. I am using a VPN to connect to others and to play online but I have been using it since December and problems started occurring at the end of February. The last disconnection was today (11th March, between 21:34-21:37 GMT+1).

I thought maybe the GR R12 was causing this because the problems started occurring around the same time I installed it but even after reinstalling the game the issues remain.

Any advice? Can you please check why I keep getting disconnected, what the server was doing during that time? The account I played on when I got disconnected is "Edin Halapic". I know you guys can do that. I want to add that I have no problems with TW, only KW.

Hi,

I see that in the log but there is no indication as to the cause (everything was running normally and the log reports that you disconnected unexpectedly). You played quite a number of games before that happened. I suspect that the connection between you and the proxy host dropped for one of the usual reasons (noise on the line being the most common, I think, but it could be another running process using up the available bandwidth). I do note that you say that this does not happen with Tiberium Wars. I believe that Kane's Wrath is a tiny bit more demanding on the peer to peer connections, which be a cause of additional "noise".

I think the best bet is to try to optimise the connection out of your home but trying to eliminate sources of electrical noise from around your modem and any cabling. Obviously, using a wired connection to your modem / router is preferable to WiFi.

Thanks for the help. I'll also try logging out and in again after each game. Given that the disconnections never occurred in my first game, but in the later games, I hope I can avoid the disconnections this way.
