I remember in the Hobbit's movie, when Tauriel, Legolas & some Mirkwood elves saved the dwarves of the Great Spiders, they were running & attacking from the above the trees or Legolas pursuing the orcs in Laketown on the roofs, so, i would suggest this change for Mirkwood's Spellbook:

Original

10 - Elvenking's Road - Units in the radius temporarily gain +25% movement speed and resistance to ranged attacks.

Renewed

10 - Elvenking's Road - Units in the radius temporarily gain +25% movement speed & are able to cross terrain uncrossable for 10s. (Example: Mountains, walls or buildings)

Also, i would change the last spell of Tauriel to not be the same like this by:

Original

Rank 7: Fleet-footed

Increases movement speed of nearby units for a limited duration.

Renewed

Rank 7: Athelas's light.

Restores 25% additional nearby units & does 12% of direct damage of light to nearby enemies in a small radius.

Effect: The same when Fili was being healed & he saw Tauriel like a celestial creature of pure light.

Rank 8: Athelas's light.

Restores 35% additional nearby units & does 17% of direct damage of light to nearby enemies in a normal radius.

Rank 9: Athelas's light.

Restores 45% additional nearby units & does 22% of direct damage of light to nearby enemies in a big radius.

Rank 10: Athelas's light.

Restores 55% additional nearby units & does 27% of direct damage of light to nearby enemies in a very large radius.

When is the release date for Greenwood Faction?

I would love to play for Greenwood Faction as it's my favorite one.

I let myself to suggest you: it would be great if heroes could change their appearance once they get bigger rank (like Haldir, when he gets Rank 6, his look changes), for example: when Thranduil gets Rank 7, he dons his Royal Armor; or Legoles on Rank 6, he puts on his Mirkwood armor.

And it would be wonderful, if we get more male elf customizations for created heroes.

Hey guys

We know that Rivendell is more advanced and more industrial rather than Greenwood Kingdom. while the latter is more forested and familiar with nature and trees. Unlike Rivendell people, they have little experience in siege and classic symmetric warfare but in Guerrilla warfare. Balista is incompatible with trees and forest and thus with elvish spirit. moreover balista is useless in forest especially in such a dense and large one whose trees are so huge.
why Greenwood should have balista while Rivendell has'nt?!!(Rivendell's plan is cool and suitable)
Wouldn't it be better to find another way?

thank you

There's a number of assumptions here I disagree with.

Greenwood has been much more warlike than Rivendell during most of the Third Age (Rivendell didn't even have an army), and certainly during the War of the Ring. Them having siege weapons but Rivendell using 'loremasters' is fitting. They're not going to besiege themselves inside their own forest, they have them to lay siege to other fortresses, like Dol Guldur (which is located on a bald hill).

1- for example(just in this aspect) Mongolians compared with Rome has been much more warlike and Violent but less experienced in strategies and siege. the last alliance illustrate this well.

2- Thranduil the elven king has been very  reluctant to leave the forest But he dealt harshly with anyone who entered the Mirkwood. this is very emphatic point in resources.

3- the other point is also emphasized in the film. Where the mirkwood elves use their strong bow(like other elves) in the battle of the Five Armies, but their hostility on the wide land can easily thwart such attacks and attack them from distance. but elves have no weapons to retaliate.

4- siege weapon is useful in two mode: siege fortress and classic symmetric warfare( like the 5army war).

5- The most important point is the "elvish spirit" which if considerd the others will be accepted or handled. ballista is a special weapon of the Isengard faction the enemy of the forest how can forest elves use such a destructive weapon?

thanks mathijs

Hi! :))

The Woodland Realm elves are my favorites from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit books. I think the Guards of the Palace only perform protective functions. They guard the borders and Thranduil Hall. In my opinion the Guards of the Palace would act as semi-heroic units and be limited to 3 battalions. The front units carrying spears and hind units carrying swords (just like Gundabad Berserkers and Edoras Kingsguard). Greenwood units play a bigger role in the battles.

  • Silvan unit: early game units
  • Greenwood units: mid game units
  • Guards of the Palace, Sindar Nobles: late game units

LESS WISE, MORE DANGEROUS TACTICS

Royal Barracks - 600

Rank 1: Greenwood Warriors - 700 (Megilherdir - Sword-masters)

Mid game unit. Armored Elves carrying sword and shield.

May enter Block Formation, increasing armor at the cost of speed

Rank 2: Elven Affinity

Granting +10% armor to all nearby Elves, up to a maximum of 50%.

Rank 1: Woodland Warfare

It can be activated when wearing Sindarin armor.

Greenwood Warrior causes damage to enemies when the trees are nearby (rank 1: 5%, r.2: 10%, r.3: 15%, r.4: 20%, r.5: 25%).

Rank 1: Greenwood Spears - 600 (Thelaherdir – Spear-masters)

Mid game unit. Armored Elves carrying spear and shield.

May enter Shield Wall, increasing armor at the cost of movement speed.

Rank 2: Elven Endurance

Granting +5% armor against the cavalry to all nearby Elves, up to a maximum of 25%.

Rank 1: Woodland Warfare

It can be activated when wearing Sindarin armor.

Greenwood Spears causes damage to enemies when the trees are nearby (rank 1: 5%, r.2: 10%, r.3: 15%, r.4: 20%, r.5: 25%).

Rank 2: Greenwood Archers - 500 (Cúmaethyr - Bow-warriors)

Mid game unit. Armored Elves carrying longbows. Long range, high damage.

Rank 2: Elven Precision

Temporarily increases attack range and damage at the cost of movement speed.

Rank 1: Woodland Warfare

It can be activated when wearing Sindarin armor.

Greenwood Archers causes damage to enemies when the trees are nearby (rank 1: 5%, r.2: 10%, r.3: 15%, r.4: 20%, r.5: 25%).

Rank 2: Greenwood Slayers - 500 (Theladagnyr - Spear-slayer)

Mid game unit. Armored Elves carrying double-bladed spears. Strong versus spam infantry, deals minor splash damage.

May enter Loose Formation, greatly increasing attack speed at the cost of armor.

Rank 2: Elven Prowess

Consecutive attacks temporarily increase attack damage by by 5% up to a maximum of 25%.

Rank 1: Woodland Warfare

It can be activated when wearing Sindarin armor.

Greenwood Slayers causes damage to enemies when the trees are nearby (rank 1: 5%, r.2: 10%, r.3: 15%, r.4: 20%, r.5: 25%).

Rank 3: Sindar Nobles - 900 (Faenrochyn - Radiant-riders)

Late game unit. May enter Line formation, increasing damage and movement speed at the cost of armor.

Rank 2: Righteous Indignation

Temporarily terrifies nearby enemy units and grants Sindar Nobles -33% crush deceleration

Rank 1: Woodland Warfare

Sindar Nobles causes damage to enemies when the trees are nearby (rank 1: 5%, r.2: 10%, r.3: 15%, r.4: 20%, r.5: 25%).

Rank 3: Guards of the Palace -  1000 (Tamastirnyr - Hall-watchers)

Late game unit. Armored Elves front units carrying spears and hind units carrying swords (just like Gundabad Berserkers and Edoras Kingsguard). May enter Shield Wall, increasing armor at the cost of movement speed.

Rank 2: Solemn Duty

Greenwood Fortress - Units

Gilded Guard of Lasgalen – 1200 (Tawartirio – Guard of the Forest)

Hero unit riding Giant Elks. Recruitable from Fortress. Requires Tribute to Oromë to be purchased.

Rank 1: Call of the Wild

All nearby heroes gain +15% attack damage, 15% movement speed, and +15% armor. When activated, the Gilded Guard sound their horns, causing friendly kills to generate resources for a limited time.

Rank 3: Fury of Nahar

The Gilded Guard commence a great charge. Trample deceleration is greatly reduced, and armor is increased by 100%.

Rank 6: ???

Design cue: Mounted Théoden or RoR's cape-enabled gucavalry_skl

How about toggle weapon (bow/melee) at rank 1, Call of the Wild at rank 1, Fury of Nahar at rank 4 and Vengeance (+100% temporary weapon damage (bow and melee) at rank 7?

Agree about Guards of the Palace would act as semi-heroic units, so they will need, a spearmen warriors instead, and it would be better

Yes, I think they are also stronger than the other infantry units. That’s why I thought they would play a semi-heroic role, as they would rather perform defensive functions (like Fountain Guards and Citadel Guards) in the Woodland Realm.
Among the elves, my favorites are the Greenwood elves. I like their appearance, their fighting style, and that they are much more ruthless in fighting than their relatives. Most of the battles were also attended by Greenwood elves (like the Battle of the five armeis or Battle under the trees). That is why I believed that the Greenwood Spears should be replaced by the Palace Guards and that the P.G. should be given a higher title.
Of course, this is just my idea and opinion. I hope that the Age of the Ring Team will find some way to see the Greenwood Spears in a summonable or recruitable form in the Woodland Realm faction.

greenwood_warriors.jpg

I would be pity if their model were lost and not part of the Woddland Realm. The Team decides whether it is feasible and whether they can be included in the faction.

And I want to thank you for making the faction so STUNNING and FANTASTIC, with brilliant sounds/voice (my favourite is Galion :) ), breathtaking buildings, beautiful models, and so on!

I wish you all perseverance and good work! :)

They'll be summoned by Feren with his Commander power instead of the slayers. Other than this, we'd rather keep the Elven roster as is currently.

Hey there!

The Woodland Realm looks like it'll have a lot of war horn sound effects (the spellbook alone seems like it'll have three in the Horn of the Gate, Spears of Framsburg and Great Hunt of Oromë powers), and it could be a little difficult differentiating some/all of them. I thought you could use the Celtic carnyx as inspiration for the Great Hunt of Oromë power:

https://www.youtube....h?v=-DIIaCUJ1yQ

I'm not sure whether you were looking to interpret the power/sound effect as the Valaróma itself, or just a Slivan horn used in homage to Oromë. And if the former, I'm not sure if the carnyx conforms to the lore description of the horn (http://www.henneth-a...iew.cfm?thid=15), but I guess that can be somewhat subjective.

Nevertheless, I wanted to offer some ideas. Keep up the fantastic work! I'm eagerly awaiting the next faction release! :)

I noticed AOTR does take inspiration from GW stuff now and then, like with the Vault Wardens, so here's an idea I had based on the Games Workshop Palace Guards: https://www.games-wo...ace-Guards-2018

The abilities they have can stay the same, but how about making them a mixed semi-heroic/heroic battalion (spears and swords) like the Gundabad Berserkers and Iron Hills Warriors? They would be the only mixed heroic battalion in the mod, right?

I thought that would be a cool, unique niche to fill, if it hasn't been filled already.

Let me know what you think, I am looking forward to the faction all the same :).
