Another classic connection issue with other players my info is:

Game version: Normal edition, through Steam.

Error message:  When attempting to launch a match, either co-op or multiplayer, with either a friend or random other players, the following message appears in the chat: "Connections are in progress, or connection problem detected. please wait for the connection to finish, or kick the player who has the connection problem. Connection in progress: 1-2"

Operating system: Windows 7, 64bit

Error log file: (only just exited the game, not entirely sure if it is updated properly)

It appears your router and/or connection is not capable of NAT negotiation.
==> You will need to use port forwarding and possibly configure a static port.
Press any key to continue . . .

Additional note: I have made attempts to forward ports, but quite frankly, I do not understand the process and have been unable to follow the instructions clearly.
One of my friends also did the NATNegTest and his output showed that his had "Success" instead of "Failure" like mine did, so it supposedly is only on my end.
I know this must be one of the many posts asking for help about this issue, and i've looked through the forum posts to see if there's any true solution, but cannot.

Port forwarding does not work well with RA3.    You should try to set your computer as the DMZ (you will need to google it for instructions).

Finally managed to sort out Port forwarding and it seems to have worked. Was hesitant to try setting my computer as the DMZ because of the risks it entails.

Turns out im just an idiot when it comes to reading some instructions (looked at a few different guides and was unable to figure it out until just before)

Ok, i jumped the gun here...

Connection worked fine when i tested it with a random, but for some reason not with my friend. Really aggravating.

Is there NO other way than using a DMZ? I really don't want to resort to it.

From a gaming standpoint I always put my gaming system on DMZ simply because it mitigates most connection issues right off the bat. Plus we aren't living in the age where a firewall is going to save you from malware/miners.

You could change your modem.   Short of that, there is no other sensible way of avoiding a DMZ.

I turned on DMZ on my router and still nothing. I am trying to play with my brother who is sitting right next to me and it loads movies and prebattle scene and audio perfect. Then he checks off he is ready and I hit start and I get this error. How can I get around it?

Please make your own topic because that is a different issue. I suggest that one (not both) of you use a VPN if you are both playing on the same network. If you have set a DMZ, only the player using the computer with the DMZ will be able to connection with anyone.
