Topic speaks for itself. I must say, upon fighting matches with some people, I must admit. My skills aren't sufficient. Recently, a woman Jasmine just defeated me. That's because of her amazing back attack tactics via Chronosphere plus handy Prism Tanks and mastery of terrain.

 

ughhh. But I accepted my defeat. Enjoyed the game anyway, any other improvements for me? I am a defensive type of player and resortive to sticking to my starting positions, (not planning to use another MCV to expand) but I do scout via dogs and Engis. I just do what Bryan Vahey does at some games. Nevertheless, I think, I'm needing more practice. We both used Euro Alliance btw,

In my experience with C&C games, being too defensive was always my downfall. I never won without expanding.

 

Just my 2cents worth.

Well I do read every units capabilities on the website. I play averagely as China on defensive stages but I only easily get overwhelm. I have been playing Mental Omega for 3 years already. Playing with other people is my second time around online.

if you lose a game, call your opponent a non skill if it is a team game blame your allies for being scrubs
your skill will rise exponentially

I suggest you to check the Youtube Videos thread. There are some good videos out there that may help you with improving your skills.

 

I also suggest you to join a game and ask if you can be a Spectator so you can see how average and high skilled players handle their games.

Open for MOre suggestions!! I usually practice with AIs (Sometimes Mental AIs) btw.

Here's a tip : Playing against AI does NOT help PvP. If anything, it makes your performance worse due to the AI promoting turtling.

Me too, along time ago as a 11 year old i played over 200+ matches against the A.I on vanilla red alert 2..

 

So i thought when i came into the multiplayer theater i thought i was pro... guess again, got destroyed by a single G.I paradrop

The AI matches are good for practicing your opening build.

I use it to commit my build order to muscle memory.

The first tip, go on the Mental Omega discord and ask for help. We have people in there that can complain literally for hours on end about specific mechanics of the game. So they will help (hopefully) with many general ideas that one should equip going into multiplayer matches, unless they deem you a pleb and put you in the corner of shame. 

 

Secondly, play one v ones. Lots and Lots and Lots and Lots of 1v1 action would not only help your micromanagement skills but doing them with different opponents would help you learn to gauge tactics quickly and adapt. 

 

If you wanted to learn to play European Alliance I suggest watching some 3.0 UprisingJC videos. He plays an extremely solid Euro Alliance and sadly isn't active in 3.3. Still, if tactics are what you need, JC has them. 

 

Feel free to hit me up to practice anytime, unless you're too busy trashing Emblem.

Handepsilon: What does turtling mean anyway? That's the first time I have heard that despite my long stay at modding communities.

 

Tathmesh: And I thought it would even make me better if it's Mentally Insane AI.

 

NorthfireZ: That's my no.1 fear: getting trashed and placed on Cornerstone of shame. Also, as a Euro Alliance player, I have nasty habbits of using mass numbers of Rocketerrs supported by Thors, Prism Tanks, Mirage Tanks, and some SEALs. I rarely use the Siege Cadres and Charon Tanks honestly. :( I won't delve into being too busy competing with Emblem. I want also to fight you, cody (again without IRON LAG), StolenTech, Jasmine (again), and  even Alstar in the far far far away future. In fact, I even planned to do what Martinoz did on BR1 Skirmish: Ground-based tactics through Charons, Cavaliers, Mirages, and Prisms.

 

To be honest, I play more frequently as HQ than Euro Alliance. I jusst really need to be professional in handling Euro Alliance.

that unit composition is is actually what most people use as EA, you don't really need a charons unless in certain situations (vs China being the most obvious of them).

Strategy game's goal is... as my game design lecturer once says, to control the most territories. Most of the time you'd be forced to play in your opponent's own game and most of the times it will lead to your downfall.

Of course there was some rare exceptions, but that usually involves the opponent getting caught off guard. The only time I actually managed to win that way was because of (arguably) OP Foehn stuff (aka Zorbs, Banes and Pteranodons)

Ah okay. I now understand. And so I suddenly remember my nasty habit whenever I play on Fort Urban Square map against four Mental AIs and of course playing Ouroboros and Endurance Challenges on Hard with Mental AIs. It's a reflection of what I do on those games (as a different faction not Foehn).

 

StolenTech: So Martinoz's force composition is what most people use as Euro Alliance players or is it my force composition?

Biggest issue with defensive play and turtling in general is that you are ceding map control. It works against AI as they have predictable attack patterns and they attack in waves instead of one big push. Gems and the highest concentration of ores are usually far from your base so you lose alot on the economy.

Always strive for map control. Harass unguarded miners, try doing some timing pushes (but learn to not over commit).

Mental AI won't make your plays better, because the AI's tactics are borderline suicidal. There are more efficient ways to defeat your enemy, which you'll learn in actual MP matches.

Some of the strongest tactics that people use in MP aren't used by AI. These include IFV/Jackal hit and run and seal in nighthawk.

Again, AI games are only good for mastering the controls and testing unit damage for your strategies.
