Hello everyone! I know this is mostly a hardware issue but i can't even try the online mode. I have recently reinstalled The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth ( the 1st one in the series released in 2004 ) to my new laptop. This laptop has an Nvidia GeForce 920M 2 GB, Intel Core i5-5200U CPU 2.20 Ghz and a 4 GB RAM. Nothing special for these days but more than enough to run this game on Ultra settings. Everything runs fine and smooth no fps drops or whatever. That is until 2 things happen: Gandalf uses his wizard blast skill and when the Balrog is summoned. You may ask what in the world may those 2 things have to stress the GPU so much. There is a visual effect that comes with them, a foggy like blast that slightly blurs the image. Don't get it wrong it's supposed to look this way been playing the game since it's 1st release. So when those effect occur weird black blocks appear on a random spot on the screen mostly on the upper sides. They look like tetris blocks at random spots. They stay there for minutes. I 've found a solution to this but it reduces the quality. To do this i have to go to the Nvidia Control Panel and switch the AA from 4x to application controled. As i said this solves the problem but reduces the quality and the units looks " crispy " with sharped edges now that the AA is missing. With 4x AA the game looks so different or my eyes have high expectations from games this old. In the end what does the AA have to do with that blurry effect i mentioned? I mean it's not even a unit to be affected by AA and cause those issues. It's just like thin air appearing for a brief moment. I never had this issue at my old pcs and they were really really ban in terms of hardware. Thank you in advance.

Sorry I have never seen this problem before. You could try changing the in game graphic settings as well, or make the game use only the internal CPU graphics. But that will probably not allow your AA. Also there might be some other options in your driver config...Did you check for driver updates?

Did you also install all patches up to 1.06?

I have finally found a solution to the problem. The issue remained despite the installation of the drivers Dell provided. It's not a driver issue and i can use the AA freely. I 've run "Troubleshoot compatibility" from the compatibility menu and now the game runs fine on compatibility mode Windows XP ( SP 3 ). I am using Windows 10. Thank you for your help and ideas ICT!
