Hey all! I've been wondering about this for a while, but only now got around to posting my question.

Put simply, I'd like to know: why are Shadow Tanks practical?

Most of my C&C experience is from the Tiberium series, where we have the infamous Nod Stealth Tank. The Stealth Tank is armed with rocket launchers, highly effective against vehicles, aircraft, and structures. Because it's expensive and fragile, it's used against strategic targets, such as high value structures and harvesters, but almost never employed against enemy armor.

The Shadow Tank confuses me because it's ineffective against structures. It's too expensive and fragile to trade with armored formations, despite its competent damage against vehicles. I can only see it as being useful for harvester killing.

Could any HQ specialists advise me?

Perfect economy harrasment, hero hunter, in bigger number can also stand as main battle tank. Not to mention about flanking capabilities. Having a group of those attacking from side during clash or providing diversion can be devastating.

So:

1. I was right about harvester harassment.

2. Hero Hunting? Didn't think of that one, makes sense.

3. Surprise attacks, where the object is not so much raw damage as it is psychological/tactical?

In numbers, you might be surprised at how they can quickly destroy the toughest tanks and disappear later, only to pop on the next one.

And their range means they can kill most basic Anti Tank infantries and escape before retaliation can be made

There is a psychological aspect with Shadow Tanks.

Unlike Starcraft, there aren't any long-ranged stealth detection options like Terran scanner sweep or Protoss observers, so unless you've blanketed the map with detectors, you probably will have no idea where the Shadow Tanks will be.

A careless player might underestimate you, while a good player will be cautious.

Someone should make a Shadow Tank mission to hammer their usefulness into this person's head. :D
