So all of a sudden, I get a Transaction timed out error. I've done a bit of research on it; the support pages say that it's an issue with claiming a GameSpy name. However, I've never used GameSpy. But apparently, the only way to fix the problem I'm having is to do a server restart. But won't that inconvenience the other players?

 

Is there a way to fix it without a server restart?

The server has been restarted since then.    It restarts automatically every day at 6am and I restarted it again 30 minutes ago for diagnostic purposes.       Please report if you are still experiencing problems.   The restart does not affect games that are already in play.     The only consequence is that players need to log in again.   Games that are already in play will finish and report results normally.
