Hello,

I'm new to C&C Online/Revora and having some trouble getting it to work.  I have followed the setup guide and RA3 loads via the launcher fine, I just can't get it to connect to the backend server.  I'm hoping some one can tell me what idiot thing I've missed or done wrong!

Game: Red Alert 3

Version: 1.12 via Steam.

Error: Could not connect to backend server

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

Error log:

----- C&C:Online Launcher Start -----
Game: Red Alert 3
Red Alert 3 Install Path: D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3\
Started game with: "RA3.exe "
Caught CREATE_PROCESS_DEBUG_EVENT from Red Alert 3. Detaching...
Found game.dat process. PID 10308
*** Starting CA public key patching routine ***
CA public key is expected value.
Successfully patched CA public key.
*** Starting hostname hooking routine ***
Injecting DLL into game.dat process...
Result of injection: Code -1073741582

I have allowed everything related to C&C I can find in my firewall (ESET Smart Security).  I have selected my machine's IP in the network configuration section of RA3 setup.  I've tried it with both nothing and 6667 in the port box but neither seems to make any difference.

If any one can help I'd be most grateful.

Cheers, Mike....

Are you using Win 10?    If so, please could you open Windows PowerShell (type PowerShell at the start menu) and in the window type and enter

Test-NetConnection peerchat.server.cnc-online.net -port 6667

Then post the output in here.

Hello,

Thanks for getting back to me.

No, I'm running Win 7.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

Is there a Win7 alternative of the above I can type into the DOS shell?

Cheers, Mike...

Hello,

I'm receiving the "cannot connect to back end server" message in Red Alert 3. I'm running Windows 10.

ToxicShock, I followed your instructions and received the following output:

peerchat.server.cnc-online.net -port 6667
'peerchat.server.cnc-online.net' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

It looks like you typed that into a dos prompt and not Windows Powershell.

I apologize. In an attempt to avoid issue duplication, I have moved my PowerShell output to the thread containing my personal issue: link

Yeah, OK. You could decompress the attached zip file and put all of the extracted files into a new directory (don't run from the zip file itself) then run portqueryui.exe. Then put

peerchat.server.cnc-online.net

in the destination IP then select the "manually input query ports" radio button and add 6667 to the ports list. Then copy and paste all of the out put and post here.

Hello,

Thanks for that.  I have followed your instructions and this is the output:

=============================================

 Starting portqry.exe -n peerchat.server.cnc-online.net -e 6667 -p TCP ...

Querying target system called:

 peerchat.server.cnc-online.net

Attempting to resolve name to IP address...

Name resolved to 46.166.178.165

querying...

TCP port 6667 (unknown service): LISTENING
portqry.exe -n peerchat.server.cnc-online.net -e 6667 -p TCP exits with return code 0x00000000.

Hope that helps diagnose the issues.  Cheers, Mike....

That's good news in that it means the port is not blocked.    Could you remove the IP address in Options-> Settings->network (so it says "no IP address") clear the port number box, uncheck "send delay", try to log in and then post in here immediately afterwards so I can find that in the server log.

Hi ToxicShock I have same issue but I run Windows 8.1, portqry.exe reported the same as Mike and I followed your next step.

It was already no IP Address and unchecked "send delay" but I still can't log in "Backend server" thing.

thanks.

Update 11/9: It's working again, thanks.

Hello, Sorry for the delay in trying this, I've had a lot on lately. I have just tried to connect as you asked, ToxicShock, with the settings as you asked. Hopefully you'll be able to see it in the server logs. Cheers, Mike...

There is no sign of you or your IP address in the log for today.   None whatsoever, so there is a major malfunction somewhere.     What happened when you tried?

Thanks for taking a look and I'm really sorry for having wasted your time...

...I had allowed C&C RA 3 and Revora in my firewall yet it turns out it is the firewall that's the problem.  I really hate doing it but I disabled my firewall just in case and it worked, I logged in and was able to browse game lobbies.  Now I have to identify the component that doesn't have a rule set up for it to allow it but at least now I know where the problem lies.  I won't be able to get to that for a couple of weeks (going to visit family) but when I'm back I'll poke about and see what I can find.

Thanks again for your efforts.

Cheers, Mike...
