Hello. I recently found an old Red Alert 3 copy on my old, abandoned PC. I don't remember if it was registered or cracked back then. However, I downloaded C&C:Online Launcher, and tried to launch it. Then I got "Unable to launch Red Alert 3", I went in game and tested everything there on singleplayer, everything works. But I found that it actually needs an update [patch], so I did it, but after it has finished, it came up with the error "Error: "Could not find file patchw32.dll". Then I went in the folder, reviewed and checked it and was annoyed to find an actual patchw32.dll file there.

Does that mean it was cracked? If so, do I need to purchase the game if I want to play it online, even with C&C:Online?

Thanks in advance.

We can't help you with cracks and cracking a pirated game although there is plenty of material out there, I am sure. Cracked games can run on C&C:Online but you have to wonder if it's worth the effort when you can get a legitimate copy from Origin or Steam for a couple of bucks.

Mhm, I know right. And from some researches from my side, I think this copy is cracked so..-yeah. I'll most likely buy a legitimate copy from Steam.

Thanks.

Sorry for the double post.

Is there any difference between buying a copy from Origin or Steam? I mean, especially for Windows 7? I am kinda confused. The system requirements in Origin's page for RA3 say Windows XP and Windows Vista. There is no mention for Windows 7? Kinda weird, especially it's RA3, how could it not be listed Windows 7? However. Are there any differences?

Both Origin and Steam support RA3 on Windows 10.     I don't have much personal experience (I have RA3 on Origin as part of the Ultimate Collection) but many  people seem to be using Steam.    That may be because you can pick up RA3 on Steam for just a couple of dollars now and again.   I don't know.

If anyone else has any  input, I would be pleased to hear it.
