Played a game just fine with my friend on the same router that I use.
But anytime I try to connect with an outside player, I can't get past "Waiting on probe response." I get that error and then I'm disconnected. Patch seems good, internet connection seems good, tried with and without port fowarding, running in Administrative mode, and on XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode, still no luck. I've also got GenTools up and running.

Here is my test stuff

Using server nntest.cnc-online.net:30000
Bound to local port 54205
Bound to local alternate port 54206
Resolving hostname 'nntest.cnc-online.net'...
Resolved server host to be '37.247.49.213'
Sending client INIT from port 54205 to nntest.cnc-online.net:30000
Received server INIT [665034]
Our public address is 192.30.194.193:54205
Sending client INIT2 [665034] from port 54206 to nntest.cnc-online.net:30000
Received server INIT2 [665034]
Our alternate public address is 192.30.194.193:54206
Sending cient START [665034] from port 54206 to nntest.cnc-online.net:30000
Received server START [665034]
Server extra port is 40000
Sending client PING [665034] from port 54205 to nntest.cnc-online.net:40000
Received server PING(2) [665034]
Received server PING(3) [665034]
Received server PING(4) [665034]

===========
  SUCCESS
===========
Received 3 pings from nntest.cnc-online.net:40000.
NAT negotiation works with your router and connection.
==> You do not have to use port forwarding.
Press any key to continue . . .

What IP address is showing in Options->OnlineIP? That address should be an address on your local network (it should start 192.168 or 10.).

Please also check that you have an exception for ZH in Windows Fire Wall.       That ought to be created  by the installation process but sometimes that does not happen or the exception is removed.

What version of ZH are you using (Ultimate Collection, Disk, TFD etc)?

The OnlineIP address matches my IPv4 address on my local network.

Double checked my Windows Firewall exceptions list and C&C: Generals and Zero Hour, is good to go.

I'm using the Ultimate Collection version of ZH. It's patched to version 1.04.

I suggest you install this Bibber's fixed launchers, which are supposed to fix issues with non-Ultimate Collection players.

Bibber's fixed launchers are here until his site is restored.

Apart from that, I don't have many ideas at the moment apart from attempting to improve the quality of your connection. You can usually do that by using a cable rather than WiFi and by keeping mains electrical cables away from the leads coming into your modem from the street.

I installed Bibber's fix. No change. Still can't get into a 1v1 match with players outside of my own router.

Is there any trial-and-error methods I could experiment with to provide more information? I'm at my wits end here trying to play.

I'm not saying my connection is great, but I spend most of my time playing games online (on Wi-fi and Ethernet) with relatively no issues, so I would be pretty surprised if it was a wiring issue.

Thanks for your responses. I am willing to go the distance if it would mean being able to play the game with my brother again.
