Please report bugs found in the v2 demo here. Let us know:

  • What version of the game you are playing (disk, GoG, Steam)
  • What gamemode you're in (GC, skirmish)
  • What faction you're playing
  • What you were doing/trying to do at the time of the bug
  • What went wrong

Thanks!

Started last night with the manual cd version. Playing the Rebels on a full version of OS, getting exception errors going into space battles and trying to save. I can give you the exact error later tonight.

Saving at least worked on the lite version. Didn't get a chance to try a battle

If you have the (presumably corrupted) save file, please upload it somewhere so I can test it. Let me know the exact space battles you were getting into, and when you were trying to save, and I'll see if I can replicate the crashes.

Would it matter if it was on an install that the previous version had been on?

Never got to the point of actually creating a save file, crashed when it was making one I think. I'll try to experiment more tonight and update you with more specifics

Crashing when saving tends to create a 0kb savefile so yeah it's probably not much use. It's not something I've encountered in 2.0, most issues have been related to loading savegames.

Having both mods installed at the same time shouldn't cause an issue, unless you installed the demo directly on top of the base game and/or directly on top of v1.2. That would be a mess.

I'm having the saving issue as well. Win7 x64 on the GoG version. Saving immediately crashes the campaign for either faction

Did a fresh install. Still getting an error when loading battles, seems to be any battle. Mao will load and an error message will pop up on Windows. I'll try to get the exact message tonight.

The error can be cleared and the game brought back up and the battle done as normal. And

Only problem I am having now is the not enough room on disk error when I try to save. So problems on my end basically it seems.

Thanks to the team for their hard work

No problem. Those errors all sound like the kinds of things I remember getting on my old PC with the disc version of the game.

  • What version of the game you are playing (disk, GoG, Steam): Disk
  • What gamemode you're in (GC, skirmish): GC / Light
  • What faction you're playing: Empire
  • What you were doing/trying to do at the time of the bug: SAVE that damn mod
  • What went wrong: save failed, next few seconds game CTD

This error is repeatable. Over and over again. Can not save in normal GC, did 2-3 successful attempts with Light version. But it failed in Light too.

Old system Win XP (4GB RAM) btw, but other mods mostly plays nice :)

Did a few battles - no problems (the ones from the list to do for Empire at start).

Like I said to skie above, that sounds like the kind of errors that happen to older versions of the game. I'm sorry it's making it difficult to play the mod. I may release an ultra-light sandbox GC for the demo that has almost no units and see if that works for people.

OK. Now I've installed GOG Gold version (swfoc.exe from 2014). Saved properly three times in a row. It can work that way.

Edit:

Sometimes it still fails to save. But it's more stable with GOG.

I will be glad to have ultra-light sandbox GC. As I said all other mods have lighter save files (at least by half!). This one saaaave and saaaave and sometimes it is saved :)

But it's heavy moment.

Is there a version that is better to use? The new steam release? I've owned the retail and then the GoG forever.

Steam release is actually being updated by the developers to fix a few bugs so if it goes on sale again I'd recommend getting it. I'm glad it's working a little better for you Hanti.

  • What gamemode you're in (GC, skirmish): GC
  • What faction you're playing: Both
  • What you were doing/trying to do at the time of the bug: Attempting to load a saved game
  • What went wrong: Game crash to desktop, no error message.

Does this with both autosaves and any manual saves.

Thanks for the report. I'm aware of a few users having this problem and I've been working to find a fix, though it's been very difficult since I'm unable to reproduce the error. I put a first attempt at a fix on Steam but clearly that isn't working.

It's definitely 2.0 related on my end.  1.2 still loads saves fine.  It also seems to be specific to GC saves.  Skirmish saves still load fine.

Thanks. I'll look more closely into what changed on the GC end.

Hi, just adding my bit here.

Steam, GC light, Rebels easy:

After playing a few hours I now have a save an hour or so into the campaing which seems to be working, another one a bit further in which CTD halfway through loading, and 3 more later saves which crash the moment I click "load". I could try writing down what I did during the game between the working save and the later ones but to me it does not seem to be related.

But most importantly I am thrilled the mod is coming along!

Thanks for more info. I've been working closely with a tester who repeatedly gets these errors, so hopefully I can get to the bottom of it.
