So I've been watching a lot of these videos and I've been wondering what would it take to make a cutscene like this?

Quite a lot actually, it's not something the Meisters can do, since it would need a whole different set of skills. I'd personally try doing something like this if I had usable models, since I do have access to a game engine, however the videos would still end up looking like they were made with a game engine (with all its optimizations that are okay in game, but not in videos like this) rather than pre-rendered.

And because there aren't really any 3D models of MO units ready, you'd need to find people who could make the models from scratch and properly texture them, then someone who can rig them and animate. It's not a simple process at all.

There's plenty of 3D models of MO units and buildings, but making entire cutscenes is a whole different story. That's not a thing that will ever happen.

TBH, with the game engine's editor that I use for work, I could do the rigging and the animating (at least, when it comes to vehicles, they are fairly easy to animate; for infantry, there are mo-cap libraries available), it's really just the properly textured models.

Maybe some of those models could be released publicly for people to try to produce a cutscene sample?

Alternatively, I still think MO could also have short comic-pages with text outlining the story between "story beats" or "story arcs", like in Starcraft 1 Remastered, that shouldn't be that impossible to produce, considering all the effects and such in the trailers.

Ah, maybe we can all collaborate on something like this or nah?

One hundred thousand dollars, two years and a half, plus a really good voice actor playing the bald guy

In-game speed vs real life speed?
Malver in Obisidian Sands?
Strength-Agility-Intellect subfactions?

Could be done with just the amount of animators out there willing to contribute to MO. ;)

If we're talking about RA2 style, the animations could be done even without filming. A lot of the parts looks like they are done with models, and the effects could be done with Adobe.

For Tiberium Wars style, that's the kinda thing that requires camera work, filming experts, and sfx specialists; a lot of work and effort being put into it.

Reminds me of The Forgotten mod for C&C3, where the guy and his friend recorded themselves talking to the player between the missions. Sure, it wasn't that much of a thing, but tbh that just added to the old, C&C1 amateur feeling to it all.

Somebody who had knowledge or experience of doing 3D animation should do it.

As I know this is beyond the dev's capability.

Those were incredibly impressive for a fan-made project.  :thumbsupcool:

Would it be awesome? Undoubtedly.

But this kind thing is always a crazy amount of work, and for a free project... the Forgotten Mod example was a unique case of extreme motivation, subcontracting, and serious talent.

Imo real video's + 3d animation would be impossible, but when i look in the mental omega fan art page: like this

https://forums.revor...25#entry1077781

You see some amazing comic drawings, and other stuff maybe some people would be interested in making comic video's for in between scene's (like they do in overwatch)

Since its a mod project fantasy could go wild, no need to hold on to the classic CNC ra2 animations of story telling.

Or like how Starcraft 1: Remastered did it, really.

Even if motion cutscenes can not be made within this mode, perhaps cutscenes like the ones in Witcher 3 or Mortal Kombat X could be made ?
Like with a single fan-art picture/art accompanied by a narrative describing the mission or the stages of the quest?

For the lol of it. Make it an anime cutscene.

2D is easier I swear (it is still tedious).

Libra and yunru is already enough. Too much animu and mental omega becomes cringe.
