Singularity lag issue

Best Answer Terminal Velocity, 02 March 2018 - 02:35 AM

Okay, here's the video is anyone is interested:

Here's what I've been able to figure out so far:

1)The way you beat the mission doesn't matter(I've tried disabling only the Soviet alarm, only the Allied one, both of them, and going straight for the IC,that doesn't seem to affect the result in any way).

2) I highly suspect that restarting the mission is what causes the problem.

Hey. Long time ago, I attempted Singularity on Normal difficulty. Since I was desperate, I looked at a video by Terminal Velocity, in which he completed the mission in like 30 mins.

How did he accomplish that? You have to destroy 2 soviet buildings, 2 allied buildings and the Iron curtain, but he destroyed only 2 soviet buildings and the iron curtain, and the objective was completed. After that, you have to get the 3 critical units to a driller, while numerous soviet and allied forces come from everywere.

I did the same: destroyed 2 soviet buildings and the iron curtain, but when it came to evacuate, the game became unplayable: 2 fps i think.

I know the mission was designed by lovalmidas, and I happened to find a post by him, in which he said "I found a way to create artificial lag".

Is that why I had like 2 fps, because I skipped to the final objective? Or is my pc shit? I'm waiting for 3.3.3 to attempt that mission again, cuz save/load.

Terminal velocity played 3.3.1, I played 3.3.2

It would help to know your PC specs, and how well it performs in other heavy missions.(For instance, try launching Godsend on Mental and move the camera to the top right corner where the units spawn.) In my case the lag was because of my PC(because of recording,to be exact). Honestly,I doubt that skipping the Allied base can cause something to break. If I understand it right, you only need to destroy the Iron Curtain to trigger the war, the way how you manage to do it should not matter.

I have a laptop. I5-4288 , 2.60 ghz, 8gb ram, nvidia 920mx 2gb.

Also, I tested out what you suggested, and there is barely any lag while doing that. I also completed Relentless on normal, and I had a bit of lag at the beginning of the mission, when we have to clear the shore, but the rest, I had 25-30 fps. Also, if Obsidian Sands and Lizard brain could be considered heavy, I had no lag while playing them (except a few seconds, but not continuous lag like Singularity).

Turning antvirus like kaspersky and setup high power usage should help.
And check if mo wont start on intel graphic instead of your main one.
Go to graphic setings >swichable graphic setup main graphic for mental omega exe

Okay,I tried launching the map with Reveal and Debug Scuds, destroyed both Soviet buildings and the Iron Curtain,and..you're right! After like a minute, fps just drops to 2. Gotta test it in real game, but since it happened to you too, I guess it's for real.

EDIT: After running a few tests I'm a bit confused. On my first 3 attempts I managed to reproduce it,but after many other attempts I only got it once.So either it's not consistent, or there is some kind of condition required for that.

I don't have antivirus. And I always run mo with dedicated graphics card.

Glad to see this isn't only my problem. I have a feeling that this is a troll for those who want to skip the objectives.

So if I exit to the client after each failed attempt, it shouldn't lag anymore, right?

btw thanks for taking your time to figure things out.

Yes,it should be fine. Someone also suggested to use a different renderer, gotta give it a try.

EDIT: trying different renderers (even the new one that's gonna be in 3.3.3) didn't help.

same thing happened to me in bottleneck, I saved and the game was running fine... but when I loaded the game loading took forever and the game was a bit laggy after the load before stabilizing.

Ares 1.0 is out so I just put it into my MO directory, you don't have to wait until 3.3.3 for that.

I expect Singularity to lag a little during the War / Evacuation phase (when Allied and Soviet decided to decide the decisions with fists.

2 FPS is a bit hardcore though. Try to see if you encounter lag in other AI-intensive missions (The Raven, Relentless). In case Save/Load is a contributor to the issue, perform those as well.

'Artificial lag' is not present in any released missions (I believe I meant a way to make even a high-end PC lag a little using map triggers and pre-placed units, but I already forgot the technique.)

I had no little to no lag playing the missions you suggested. But when it came to evacuation phase in singularity, I had 2 FPS all the time. I thought it would be for a few seconds cuz yeah, a lot of units are spawning. Anyway, trying what Terminal Velocity suggested did work, and I finished the mission on Mental.
