I need to know the ports so that I can port forward them on the router according to someone I met in a lobby as unfortunately me and a friend cannot connect and I am having connection issues with everyone if you have any ideas why I am open to suggestions on how to sort this problem.

If you are getting into the lobby, these are the ports you need to forward for player to player connections:  UDP ports 8088-28088 (the whole range).    Do not forward TCP.       You might try checking the "Send Delay" box on the network page of "options".     Do not open a static port.    All round, it is easier to make your PC the DMZ (if nobody else is playing on your home network).    In either case, you will need to set the forward to the MAC address of your network card (if your modem supports that) or you will need to give your network card a static IP address (if you cannot set by MAC address).
