C&C Tiberium Wars: Kane's Wrath - Unable to establish a connection with the Kane's Wrath servers

Best Answer farfelu, 14 October 2018 - 11:48 AM

I did some more testing today and took the router/firewall out of the equation by connecting directly to the modem for a few minutes, the same error happened, so it shouldn't be a firewall issue.

I just bought the ultimate collection on origin for 5 euros instead and now it works fine, so it seems the no-cd patch I used didn't play well with it.

Now I can get rid of the CDs at least and not worry about them anymore.

thanks for the help

I am trying to get online to work on C&C Tiberium Wars: Kane's Wrath (installed from CD images) but keep getting the error

CANNOT CONNECT

Unable to establish a connection with the Kane's Wrath servers. Please check your internet connection

after clicking multiplayer -> online. It instantly pops up and will bring me back to the main menu when clicking OK.

(When clicking online without the launcher/hook the game takes a minute before displaying this message)

See attached file for screenshot.

I am running windows 10 and use a no-cd patch because this computer no longer has any disk drives. I made the copies of the disks at work.

This might be the whole cause why it is not working, but I'm not sure.

  • Both the game and the launcher have exceptions in the windows firewall.
  • The ports 16000 and 6667 are port forwarded
  • I am posting from the same IP as I'm trying to connect (84.113.xxx.xxx)
  • I am not running DS-lite but have a dedicated IPv4 address without any other routers between mine and the ISP.
  • Both the game and the launcher run as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
  • There is only one network adapter and the local IP is set correctly in the game options. No VPN is being used.
  • DMZ is not an option because I'm running other services behind that router that need to be available on different ports.

NAT negotiation works with your router and connection.
==> You do not have to use port forwarding.

I'm not sure what else to try, my only assumption is that the no-cd patch makes the hook fail and not update the server addresses correctly. I don't know if that is actually the case though.

Any more ideas or am I out of luck without a disk drive?

Have you also checked if your router happens to have an SPI-Firewall? (should be in the advanced settings somewhere)

Sometimes that might be setup too strict, resulting in out-rightfully blocking legit traffic.
