Remove House Colours in BFME II

Best Answer numbers815, 17 November 2018 - 08:47 PM

I sorted the files by name and the first big file was the "__BT2DC-v1.09w.big" file which has the zoom mod applied. Turns out this file also has the "data\ini\gamedata.ini" same as the "ini.big" game file. So I changed that one to "EnableHouseColor = No" as well, and presto manifesto it worked!! Thank you for the suggestion @Echo.

Hi BFME community,

I have followed the tutorial as per the below link to remove the house colours from all units in BFME II. However, it refuses to work in game.

https://www.the3rdage.net/item-506

The tutorial involves editing the "ini.big" game file to make "EnableHouseColor = No". This is under "data\ini\gamedata.ini".

I am running Windows 10, playing BFME II (not RotWK), using latest patch 1.09. Only using two mods: HD Edition and a zoom out mod of the following game file: "__BT2DC-v1.09w.big".

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Might they possibly be overriding the information you are wanting to change?

You would have to make a .BIG file with _____ to override whatever is defined in the __BT2DC... big file.

So you take the gamedata.ini and put it in a new .big file and name it accordingly and it should work.

Unless those mods use the -mod command, in which case things could get more difficult, but try the above first ;)

Thanks for the reply. Alright I changed the "__BT2DC-v1.09w.big" file back to the non-modded original and the problem of House colour persists. So it can't be that? Is the HD Edition perhaps known to override the House colour disabling?

Ok I also tried adding an ini to "ini.big" under "data\ini\object\Gamedata.ini" with the following code:

GameData

    EnableHouseColor    = No

End

Sadly, this did not work

Something here seems to be overriding your changes. I don't know about the community patch, but you should make sure to edit/backup+edit the correct file. How does your BFME 2 folder look like? If you sort it by name, take the .big file that is closest to the top which includes gamedata.ini. Note that as soon as you change things there, you won't be able to play with other players anymore unless they have the same modification (or the game is likely going OoS).
