I am currently having the same issue. My PC found the virus a couple days after having been installed. When I tried to run the game, I got an error, then got a notice that it was detected by Windows Virus Protection

I got the same virus.
I was wondering why Gentools started to try to automatically download an update for Gentools, which it had never done in the past.
Has anyone tried contacting the Admin about this.

Hey guys,
After looking around the forums I saw in the gentool F.A.Q. it is common for antivirus to detect the d3d8.dll file as a virus, but it is a false positive. Set the antivirus to ignore it and you can continue with install and normal function.
Worked for me when I just tried it.

Microsoft Security program listed it as the Trojan:Win32/Fuery.C!cl, but not sure if that means anything, as MS Security might just be overly cautious.
I'll reinstall Gentools and see what happens.
But one has to wonder why MS Virus Security only recently picked up on this, as I'm assuming this file has been on my computer for the past few years?

Microsoft pushed out an update at that time that would change behaviour of Windows Defender and classify GenTool d3d8.dll as threat due the nature of its built type.
Gain access to CNC Online servers by using GenTool for Generals and Zero Hour.
"GenTool provides enhanced game controls and optimizations to maximize your online gaming experience. Additionally it comes with three anti cheat solutions for Generals and Zero Hour. The program is easy to install and is fully functional with C&C Generals 1.8, C&C Generals Zero Hour 1.04, Generals Deluxe Edition, The First Decade and The Ultimate Collection."

I'd be curious for more information. Seems like some "trust me" behind that.
