A common pattern that i seem to notice with my playstyle is that i don't really use infantry units (unless its Foehn, Heroes, or deso/radicators, brutes) much, i focus on vehicles and support powers but rarely will i have a decent amount of infantry in my army. Probably its due to the infantries "fleshy" nature wherein tons of vehicles can easily rekt them without them even firing a shot that i find them risky to use.

As the Soviets, your infantry are pretty decent despite how quickly roughly half of them will drop like a bad habit, depending on what you're fighting.

If you're battling Scorpion Cell, the USA, or Foehn, don't use infantry too much, as their support powers and certain units will make infantry use pointless. Use VERY small amounts when fighting those particular factions, and focus with vehicular warfare, since vehicles can:

-Survive Toxins longer.

-Mercury Lasers won't burn them alive.

-Nanomachines can't get inside a sealed vehicle.

One good tactics for the Soviets -I watched this tactic from Alstar in his "Think Different" walkthrough: Tesla Troopers mixed in with Qilin tanks (this can work with Rhino Tanks too!) are very potent, as both can kill vehicles and buildings, except the Tesla Troopers can take down enemy infantry decently, since both Qilin and Rhinos cannot -aside from running them over.

Pyros and Tesla Troopers can walk hand in hand, since they BOTH can destroy structures quickly, combat enemy vehicles, decimate infantry once they get in range, AND the Tesla Troopers will usually shoot from longer range, so they won't burn to death via friendly fire.

Pyros and Borillos/Armadillos are POTENT infantry and building killers. Try it ^_^

Desolators or Eradicators work well as support soldiers (slow movement speed) for your more run of the mill troops, since they can target most infantry and vehicles, while the "grunts" fight everything else.

Especially with the Soviets, you're the Conventional Force of the game, don't shy away from using Combined Arms, which means infantry and vehicles working together.

The Allies require a more specialized approach. Their troops are better than the Soviet ones, but there are "less" of them. Kinda like comparing GDI and NOD in the early Tiberium games: NOD had more variety than GDI.

HOwever with this in mind, they'll take more shots, and can take on different tasks, compared to the "chest board" style of the soviet forces.

Using the different IFVs each Allied Faction employs is helpful. Can't use the Prism Tank? Grab some Siege Cadre, put them in an IFV and now you've got a Prism Tankette; just keep in mind it should be used on buildings and turrets still.

Navy SEALS are useful in many things, but they'll melt against Foehn if they are bunched up. Since Foehn Knightframes deal splash damage with those Rail-machine Guns.

The key to killing Foehn troops, is to overwhelm and out-enlist their troops with your own. Expect heavy loss of life when doing this. OR you can use anti-infantry vehicles to take them down.

Try Navy SEALS (Tanya works well!) in an IFV unit, and watch as he mows tons of guys down.

Every unit -Infantry included- has its proper place, just practice a strategy and I'm sure it'll work well for your needs. =)

I hope this helps you.

Unless you play as Foehn, Infantry alone will never get you anywhere. Their role is to be a massed cannon fodder, a living shield for vehicles, with too much damage output to be just ignored. If you do find yourself fielding an infantry army, in my experience it is best to divide them into squads, about 20-30 infantry in one, bound to a hotkey from 0 to 9. Assigning different targets to different squads maximizes their efficiency, as the biggest drawback of big infantry blobs is that usually, only a few of its members are within range of a single designated enemy, the rest have to shuffle around. If you expect a sudden attack (for example, terror drones), you can also move your army squad by squad, with one of them staying in one place, ready to fire, while another one moves a few tiles. Attack-move order is also really helpful in an all-out fight.
