Follow these steps to upgrade Kane's Wrath visual effects:
1) Set in the game settings the resolution at 800x600 and graphic settings at 'Very Low';
2) Close the game;
3) Open the game again and change to your monitor's native resolution and graphics settings in 'Ultra High';
4) Start a match and you will see that the visual effects are new and more striking (I recommend you see the NOD faction vehicle EMP effects and the tiberium field dust effects).
I can't explain why, but this resolution change unlocks these hidden effects.
In the simple image below you notice the difference in smoke coming from the buildings, but in the game the differences are even greater.
