Hey guys,
Been trying to get a game of RA3 going with a few friends but it's been a right hassle! One of our gang is stuck on Linux currently and he's got the game running ok, but doesn't have the patience or skill to fiddle around making the C&C Online launcher work through WINE etc. He just wants to go back to OpenRA (and so do some of the others rather than have to faff with launchers etc). We're not hardcore fans who'll be playing it constantly, just fancied a different game!
So...is it not possible to just redirect from the old Gamespy servers to the new Revora ones using the hosts file? That'd be really easy to do, since it seems like all the launcher does is rebind the servers anyway? I've tried using Wireshark etc but it all goes over my head a bit, I can't suss it out. Any thoughts?
Not to be ungrateful for all the hard work etc that's gone into this, but it'd be a whole lot easier to just plonk a few lines in the hosts file than set up the launcher
