The last couple releases of Wine have broken BFME. Users who upgrade their Wine version will get stuck at a splash screen where the game can no longer progress.

 

I haven't confirmed, but I believe the bug was introduced in Wine 5.7 (latest release is Wine 5.9). If the game still works for you, do not upgrade!!

 

Update: The bug was fixed in Wine 5.10. You're good

wine-8.15-staging works for me again without an issue. Plain vanilla wine as well as DXVK works great.
