Skipped quite a number of mission when the starting seems very impossible, example Sleepless Burma (D1D1AO). Is it even possible? What kind of one in hundreds probability of success in one move? I have progressed one move for Diver and Lupin, but it seems like the next will be frustatingly tight, again, very small percentage of perfect timing, which for now, sorry, I don't have the patience for, especially if I don't know where it will lead to, another frustrating path, like mentioned in post above, the cautiousness of feasibility of the mod mission is high for me, so I'd rather try something else first.

Also, first step of logic is to deploy the commandos in at least reasonable starting post, I get that it's for fun and variety, but there are many of hot water starting point it's getting too wild, Lupin standing in the middle of the room between enemies? Yes I had fun one before with Green Baret, saved by Lupin, but sorry, this is not one.

Another general note, the armless enemies is frustrating, it's almost impossible to beat them face to face in punch war without being injured very badly or dead. While it could be exciting at first, I eventually find that it's annoying that I have better survival rate when I go face first with enemy with machine gun that the one without any arms. There is probably around 10-20% of commandos making it out alive when facing them?

P.s. Edited to highlight mission name

There is one trick you should know for defeat armless enemies. You can punch faster If you punch a different enemy just before start the animation of the punch.

There is one trick you should know for defeat armless enemies. You can punch faster If you punch a different enemy just before start the animation of the punch.

Thanks, I will try that when I have chance later. There are many things that I don't know and continue to discover, which is fun.

Currently what I'd do is quickly run into them, hopefully they get confused and punch them, more failure than success, but better that face them the ordinary way. Of course it's much better when I have trap or throwing knife, or long rifle. Facing them using machine gun is wasting a lot of ammunition and they still able to injure the commandos. Thanks for the tip!

Funny quirks that I notices in the mod (not sure if I experienced those in original game):

- stuck on the ladder enemy

most times they are dead, but sometimes till alive, but they are stuck climbing the ladder, we can't access them to get the ammunition, can't hide the body, they are just hanging there mid climbing

- greedy bullyish patrol leader

normally when we throw cigarette, the other enemies would respect those who see them first, and ignore the cigarette, but not patrol leader! He doesn't care and would still come to pick it up even when another enemy is approaching it. If he gets it first, he doesn't even bother to share it. If the other enemy gets it first, he would still pick up something from the ground most time and make me reload because it could ruin my plan later in case he is not interested anymore.

Add: the turn after enemy gets the cigarette is a nice touch, I don't remember it in the original game.

- suicidal commandos

There is high level of suicide especially in White Death and Savo Island setting. When the commandos are set run fast somewhere (normally near the end of mission when I wanted to complete some task), they would choose nearest shortcut and jump to their death. Everytime, geez. It's stressful being commandos. I have to lol but many times I haven't saved from the last progress.

- sissy commandos

and what is up with those guys when facing closed door?

They fight, they kill, they clear the map, they do dangerous tasks but they refuse to go somewhere next door the doors are closed.

- angry commandos

and I don't remember them complaining so much in the original game when I tried to ask them to pick up something when their inventory is full or not arranged well. Especially Lupin. I was laughing when he scolded me HAVE YOU SEEN MY SIZE??!

Wolfschanze (555 ZSJ47 WYEL 2000 Lin Yui Tan..)

Return to Castle Wolfenstein (555 ZSJ47....)

Wolfschanze Snow (Spy)

Sorry could only credit what is visible on the screen

I really really like these missions, they are my favourite because they have almost everything that I like, or maybe everything.

Played them sometimes ago (sorry if I mixed them up here and there). My first one is set in normal day time, I think it's Return to..

I was weary about new map that I think I haven't played before. But my experience of playing is, if the first few moves is possible, then the mission is worth continuing (sometimes I'm wrong, that mission starts to get weird in the mid game, or impossible beginning ends up as great mission).

I like that we have a 'safe' corner and couple of hiding places here and there. In snow version, I had to try the second time because I didn't know how not to die from cold. There are three commandos, and one jacket nearby, with many many enemies. When I start the mission, I would check everyone's inventory, so unbeknownst to me, I had 'activate' them even when they don't do anything. Apparently I found out that I shouldn't do anything at all so that they remain alive before access to jacket. This gives me hope to replay some missions that I abandoned before (can't remember the name, C3 Sniper setting, starting with three commandos in the snow).

Anyway, this is my killing corner. I would bait anyone I could with cigarette, wine, enemy's body or gun shot to lure anyone other than the patrol, they have quite a big loop so there are time. After that, I tried to play around the patrol but it's not possible because there are too little time out there to take out other soldiers, especially with sniper etc. So after clearing all the lone enemies, to ensure noone will interfere with patrol's annihilation  and get some of their ammunitions, I set up a spot and get the patrol. Pick up their bullets, hide the bodies and repeat, because they respawn. I had my worry that it would be endless, but as long as I could continue to harvest the ammunition, I'd try. Finally, after the fifth patrol, it stopped and now I could venture outside.

The house on the bottom left need careful timing to infiltrate, but they always have some useful resources. In one of the version, the manholes are accessible, which I find very interesting and fun. However, it took me a long time to find access to Spy because there is no usual clue (show destination but not the way to get there).

When I first playing, I didn't have the habit to always check F10 (only pick this up playing mod games) so I'd do my clearing with Lupin, my favorite, and he can tie!, stack enemy bodies somewhere but continue to worry that they are found, until GB found knife and go to town. On my subsequent play, I'd just throw them in the thicket, much simpler. (Like it when there are a lot of hiding space!)

Getting to the first two snipers are not easy, but not impossible, one sniper is usually the trigger for some patrols but there are times to counter react or run away, which is another factor that I appreciate. Getting into the round area near the big barrack is difficult, with four snipers guarding it. I tried different approaches, from the front and the sides, from baiting with noise, full blank attack or sneak and crawl (another great factor, these missions allow endless creativities). There is one version when Lupin doesn't have rat and it's slightly more difficult to work around the sniper, but the heartless enemies (which I have a lot of problem first time playing this) is proved to be good as they don't bother to sound alarm when they see their dead peers, or come to attack.

Another good thing, there are a lot of spots for ambush, and I need this a lot, as there are so many enemies. There are different trigger person and area line (enter an area and there is something happening, enemy movement or deployment), but again, eventhough fast thinking and movements are needed, I enjoy it as these mission are done right. The spawned enemies don't appear right in front and shoot you in the face (I'm trying to recall couple of mission like this, which I find frustrating) I had time to react and change my strategy, I have resources of ability and weapon to defend (which I appreciate a lot as well, again, there are some frustrating mission where commandos are practically helpless and only counting on frustrating timing).

The building on the top right and top left normally have great resources like much needed first aid, trap, explosive, molotov etc. Another good thing in these missions; there are resources, not abundant and too stingy, but enough.

When I first played these mission, I nonchalantly took out code from the safe, thinking nothing and there were reinforcement. I thought, nahh.. only a couple of pesky busybody enemies so I put couple of commandos on ambush duty outside the building (the area were mostly cleared) to take them out but how wrong I was! Most invasion are massive, I think there are at least four for each mission. Three areas for enigma's part, some invasion appear when I blew up the tank.

Here is what I really like about the invasion: I think this site is a very very good setting for invasion.

Other invasion that I remember:

1. C2 Training invasion, nah! I really hate that corner, probably the only possible corner for long defense, not enough space, controlling the allies drives me half mad. OOkay, and then they face the wall, or wrong, wrong, wrong angle again.

2. Bonus mission 4, grrr..again, the areas, this is better and much more exciting but still, it need quite precise location. I'm those stressful person who doesn't want any ally to die.

3. Burma, eliminate the tyrant. Although they are chance to go out and hunt, most of the time we rely on indoor kill, quick snipe, avoid grenader. When the enemy is thinning, we can go out for hunting but it can go wrong quite easily.

4. Saving Private Smith. This is similar with Burma, although I always leave Sapper outside to get the tank and unsuspecting enemies, most commandos have to be stationed indoor, with Sniper playing hide and seek with grenadiers.

5. Mod, quiet before the storm series, I had reviewed in my previous posts.

6. I'm sure there are many in the mod that I forget or haven't got into.

All of these invansions have their flaws but invasion in Wolfschanze series is near perfect. Places, different crooks and corners to hunt and hide. The only thing that it lacks are climbable windows, otherwise it's perfect.

When took out item from the safe in the barrack, Driver and Sniper will be deployed at the starting area, I have left some ammunition and their speciality weapons for them there. I believe in Return.. I only used existing commandos before them to deal with the swarm of enemies in the building. The enemies are all killed with bullets. Fortunately I always have habit to collect weapon along the way. Full machine gun, I will ditch it somewhere visible, and recollect, ditch, recollect. It's sometimes reduntant, sometimes important, but in these mission, it's crucial. We don't have a lot of mass destruction weapon like molotov and grenade so I was saving them as much as I could.

Before taking out item from safe, I will prep the area in the building where the safes are for ambush. All these collected weapons will be put on one corner, commandos with respective weapon will be on X standby (I will assign some on machine gun, some on riffles, so they can switch when ammo is low before chance of refill). Lupin will be on ammo duty. He would run around filling ammo, chuck empty gun on another corner, grab another full one, reload his peers, and so on. If time permit, he would scour the fresh dead ones for ammo to reserve the ones on the corner.

Couple of time, some enemies were stuck yelling at each other near the starting point when they found casualties that for some reason they couldn't access. This is fun in couple of ways, I get less swarm in the building and able to have fun hunting them few by few. For any other mission, I always have at least one commandos hiding outside in the thicket or starting point, with two objectives, to give me full view of what is happening outside, and to get those that guarding the entrance of where the rest of commandos are, sometimes they are snipers, which could make it impossible for the commandos to get out again without anyone taking them out from outside.

There was one mission when the escape truck was being blown off together with the tank, so I always make it a point to move it first. Some swarm of enemies are overwhelming that it's impossible to survive by just ambushing them. In this case, driver should be stationed near the entry point before they are being ambushed, and get the front of swarming enemies with the right timing and many of them would run face first inside the fire. Again, I love the diversity of creative ways to play these missions.

Overall, they are looong, very satisfying mission, possible, many many good winning points that make them playable, enjoyable and fun. The replay value is very high, I'd love to get into the fun again. The twists are placed well and 'fair', no frustrating magics, no frustrating mines. All commandos have good abilities. Making part of enigmas as triggers is brilliant. Amount of commandos and resources are perfect. Crucial hiding spaces adds a lot to the fun and variable of strategy. The room for creativities are excellent.

Very very very well made missions. Thumbs up!

Long time since i played;

I played [VE] Code Name 102 Elite Panzers

Very good mission design! Not too hard. in the end a small invasion not too difficult to beat.

Really like the underwater map in a 2D map, i missed that in others (E.g. BEL missions etc).

Real life happens, haven't got chance to play in a while.

Schwere Gustav (Lin Yu Tain)

I had been weary with this author because I remembered there are missions that I thought is 'magical', but then I also remembered enjoying and finishing one of his/her missions well. So I gave this one a try, it seems reasonable enough, at least to keep me going. There are times when I felt frustrated and stuck of course, but not to the point that I'm too annoyed to think of something. And the setting is familiar, I finished another fun long mission here before (haven't recalled the mission name to mention here yet but I will)

This is mission on the railway, objectives are to plant explosive on armour car on the railway and destroy the other armour cars, plenty of light tanks, contact Natasha and free Green Baret. Not really a fan of rescue execution style mission, but I like Castle Corditz, as long as there is way to prevent the prisoner being executed 'logically', I'm in.

It's just a stressful mission especially I can't do anything! :smilehuh: without triggering something. Certain soldier, stuffs to grab, almost all has consequences, but the good thing is, it seems 'logical' as the trigger for reinforcement comes from somewhere legit, and it allows me to strategize how to counter them. It drove me nuts though to calculate what is the best move, which trigger I want to pull.

Tried to use Sapper at first to run the mission, but the machine gun soldier nearby triggers many enemies and it's too early to get them. He can't really proceed much, with many snipers on him, so I moved on with Duke, it wasn't a smooth sailing as well, but manage to neutralize everyone in the building except the general, it's too much of a hassle to get enemies outside the door which would make him stuck, and he seems to have the best chance.

When he got out, the general next to the building can't be touched, I can't kill the sniper and soldier nearby him as well, as he would snitch and call buttload of reinforcement from the armour car, so I tried to kill the other one on the right side of the map. I think I trigger snipers out at one point from the barrack, because they are somehow out in between days of me not playing so I couldn't remember,  or they were triggered anyhow because I finally managed to get a sniper rifle from the one wandering around the armour car. Here, things started to improve because Duke managed to kill some enemy snipers, get the bullets. The kill triggers reinforcement of course, but they are easier to handle than leaving those snipers alive. Most enemy snipers are empty, as there is no rifle in their inventories, but the one that matters have, and with that, he managed to get to Sapper. Getting to him became my main goal when I realized that he needs reinforcement for much needed ambush work.

When they get together, they managed to clean most of the lower map, except the one with troublesome general, but how to get to GB? At this point we are stuck because everything that we haven't cleared lead to his execution whenever we tried. And I was a bit frustated because noone could use the green sleeping bomb, which I figured out would be needed to knock the soldiers guarding his carriage, and they risked their lived to get in. I also make Sapper used bazooka to eliminate those two  :themenace: but of course, GB is executed.

So my next goal is to rescue Natasha, it's not easy, even getting her uniform trigger reinforcement. This is a looong mission! And then I realize that I wouldn't have three commandos, Natasha's rescuer would have to stay for awhile because of reinforcement triggered from rescuing her, but she might be able to just walk in to save GB...no, the guards recognized her when she was near. It took me awhile to get into smoke bomb (Note: I always hate using smoke bomb, it's a gamble and I never fell the need of it, almost never unless I really really have to like here). With a lot, lot, LOT of tries finally we get the timing right and Natasha managed to walk in to save GB by machine gunning his torturer.

Without GB's life at stake, it's time for me to go crazy and started my hunt. I baited patrols, terrorize snipers, ambush lone guard, kill everyone in interior. The challenge is the buttload, rows and rows of enemies ready to come out if I disturb General Snitch, and I did. But not before GB dragged a barrel in front of the armour car, and General Snitch is finally dead with most of enemies he called.

The rest is easy.

Overall, while weary and pulling my hair at the beginning, I actually enjoy this mission, and will definitely try another missions by the same authors, I'm so happy that there is plenty as the result I always avoid them back then.

I like the efficiency and number of commandos available, number of stuffs, the missions, and eventhough it pained me, I come to enjoy countering those plenty plenty plethora of reinforcementSSS, strategizing etc. It took me almost five hours of game time (dayssss in real life), I even forget the mission name and had to go through the list to give it credit, well done!!!

Real life gets in the way, only manage to play a little bit here and there.

I am catching up with missions by Lin Yu Tain, I find that most missions are not what it seems and it always provide long game. I used to avoid this creator because I was caught in missions that I thought was not playable, so I'm happy that I was wrong, especially there are plenty of missions.

However, there is something really frustrating with some of the mission; the interior, how to get there??? There are many missions with interior after interior after interior and interior. The labyrinth is crazier than original castle corditz especially we absolutely have no exterior to refer to. The clue only point to mysterious interior  but not the way to get there. Currently I am struggling to find a way to locate the radio room, I had gone around the map over and over and over again, I must have missed out something, but tbh it's kind of frustrating. I encountered similar thing in previous mission where I tried to rescue Driver.

Having said my frustration, here is what I like about this author's mission:

- Compact number of commandos. Limited, but enough for the mission. It is not overwhelming and I think there are good portion of commandos used, as in there are chance to play with all commandos.

- Enough resources. Some other missions are too stingy that one misstep could jeopardize the mission, but this author normally provide room for error and enough possibility to be creative in how to get mission done.

- Long game play. There is not many things better than to burn midnight oil playing commandos, so I appreciate long mission (with exception of being lost as mentioned before)

- Good element of surprises. Some invasions, reinforcements are really enjoyable because there are time to prepare for them and it's possible to play (not some crazy sniper appear in your face kind of surprise).

These are some missions I had finished recently:

- Rescue of life and death
Same feedback with above. Spent a lot of time trying to figure out the labyrinth to get to the driver. Some access can't be seen easily (the staircase leading down to laundry room) and the escape at the end of mission doesn't work well.

Other than that, nice long play, fun and challenging. I was surprised to get to play castle corditz interior map, if only I spent less time to get there. Upgraded clue that actually show how to get there would improve and bring the mission to top star.

- Life and death contest
Very fun, scary snipers, get rid of them first otherwise you can barely do anything. Have to wait to destroy those annoying tanks because there are reinforcement, but it's neccessary to destroy them to get the golden monkey across. I actually managed to get it across while the tanks are still in tact, playing Tom and Jerry with the tank, bit by bit. However, they still need to be destroyed for escape.

- Long range artillery
quite fun, plethora of resources after innitial stage, sniper not really needed, I
used GB and rifle unlimited to hunt..small invasions
Very challenging and fun indoor action for driver at the beginning.

- Railway Action
have no idea how to proceed with this one yet, but I moved on to other mission first

- Ghost Recon
okay mission, feedback similar, but escape not responding

Now back to finding radio room in Sad Past. Argggggh, improve the direction clue, please!

Lin Yu Tain mission.

I got fed up trying to locate the radio room in Sad Past. I even used Ctrl X cheat to go to location and tried to trace back to where the commandos are, to play fair, but it seems like a circle of hell that I never get out, even when I already tried all doors multiple times. It could be something not highlighted by F10 or something invisible from available angle, but I think I had tried it all. It's frustrating, really. Seems like what could be good fun goes to waste.

Didn't want to get too frustrated, I saved it first and tried new mission, Hangmet Also Die (Hangmen?) and went through it quickly with omnipowered Natasha, it was great fun, girl should be able to punch, yes! Cleared the map in short time but then again, ARGHHHH same thing all over again! I can't get into the room with keys! Nowhere leads to that!

I used Ctrl X again, and went through every frigging doors, stairs, ladder but I can't find a way to the original map!!

Can anyone help?

I don't want good missions to go on waste, and if this is the ongoing pattern, it wouldn't be very enticing.

Stopping for now as this is not really fun anymore.

Solved!

Found the stair I missed before, and Natasha revenges, cleared the mission in very short time. It was fun, the invasion is easy though, I was preparing for the worst because of amount of ammo available.

To next mission.

Wow, I played through a row of certainly interesting and craziest missions and invasions.

Challenging, fun, keep me on the edge, but I didn't get stuck too long to make me frustrated, so it was enjoyable.

I have to say Lin Yu Tain's missions that I dreaded and skipped last time have become my favorite now, albeit it's always adrenalin rush.

Missions below:

- Beauty Saves Heroes ( (With Kop, Haibo...)

Skipped the one long time ago, for some reason I always got shot everytime Natasha comes out, I missed the little window of timing. This time I tried and tried again, because I had grown to trust that the author's missions are playable. She managed to get her uniform, my next challenge was to find the very little window timing and spot to get to the other side by cutting wire, after obtaining some necessary resources like wire cutter, identified two patrol leader that would recognize her and worked it from there. A lot of trial and error of course, until I found the spot on extreme left and a good timing is very required because there are soooooo many snipers.

After she got the the other side, it's time to see which commandos is easier to free. Sapper is the easiest one, however, since there are too many snipers in the room, and the layout of the room is not feasible, he couldn't go further or out, but she obtained the very precious sleeping bomb, which she could use to free green baret. Here is also crazy and actions need to be done very quickly without mistake. Natasha would throw the gas in the room where GB was, and wait until the enemies were knocked out, including the one standing further. talked to GB, and switched to GB who quickly tied up everyone or knocked incoming sniper. Once GB is free, things got slightly easier and they both could start making their way down. First story is difficult, so they have to bait the enemy up. Once it's clear and Lupin was rescued, they have enough people to bait and ambush outside enemies, cleared the perimeter.

Lupin would be the necessary reinforcement to get Sapper because he climbs wall, once he was in, the could slowly cleared up the interior bit by bit, and when downstair was cleared as well, GB could come in and help too. Very delicate, very calculative to get them all. Rescuing Sniper is a bit difficult, Natasha has to work alone and similarly, she would need to quickly free Duke so he could knock out and tie the rest. Then all of them could go opposite to clear the area, it took long time and good efforts. Lots of snipers, limited ammunition, no other supporting resources, but Natasha was certainly the star. Unique and great mission! The lack of resources works well this time. Thumbs up!

- Behind Enemy Lines

This is also crazy. It startseasy and when the commandos gets to the other side don't let the grenadiers got close to the vehicle. Get Fins to go down and take them out one by one, beware of other enemies that are not attacking the vehicle. There are unlimited machine guns but the amount of invasion is crazy!! Find a spot near the river but safe from the patrol boat behind the logs. Position the vehicle between the log and in front of original point of grenadier, reason being so that the invading soldiers would always be in the commando's shooting range so they can kill them before being attacked, keep the first aid ready as it's possible to get injured multiple times. Needs a lot of trial and error, as the enemy is everlasting and could overwhelm. Crazy fun!

- Separation of Life and Death

While this is very unique and super intense with the enemies, there is one thing that could make it frustrating, the amount of tyrant who escapes everywhere! Coward!

Very strategic mines have to be placed to kill them without harming the commandos because there is no other safe place to hide except basement. Sapper only have exact amount of mine (six) so there are a lot of trial and error for the placement in order to strategically killing them. With only one machine gun and two guns, they have to resist the enemies that is coming in like water. Sapper got to have fun running around blowing up tank and using tank mine carefully as there are not many (or none?) excess.

Almost forget, the beginning is also crazy, everyone has to find out the safe window to go out, Sniper needs to obtain the rifle and from there, crazy sniper hunt begins. It's very difficult as there are so many of them. Stand near the bridge to get the one on top of the ruin first, and carefully and quickly get the rest from the house, needs to be superfast.

Cons: The difficulty of this mission is the exact amount of resources for mines and bazooka, some errors would make it frustrating if mission have to be restart because of that. Luckily I didn't need to. Also, the tyrants end up outside the playable area (exploded by mines) so I couldn't retrieve the documents.

The invasion itself, the beginning is quite repetitive, it takes a loooong time to passively watching commandos ambush the enemies, no active playing is needed for quite a while which could be quite boring. To go out is impossible, unless the number of enemies has dwindled down so Natasha could take her machine gun and wait by the door, so everyone has their fun; Duke with early sniper war, Sapper with blowing up woohooo twenty tanks.

- Sniper War

This one is mad, but super fun. Sapper gets to roast a lot, I mean A LOT of enemies, but he has to move very fast. Duke got to go face to face and to outsmart so many snipers, with limited bullet. Some snipers have to be killed manually, so a lot of calculation is needed to decide which snipers could be taken by other method than sniper rifle.

These three missions probably have the most snipers I have ever played. Scary but I enjoyed it a lot.

Not sure if these feedbacks are wellcomed, but that's the least I could do to appreciate the efforts in making those extra missions. Eventhough not-positive feedbacks are probably frowned upon, but again, this is one player opinion.

Currently, whenever I have time, I'm trying to replay or remember times I played those mission so that I could credit the mission more properly, and of course another try for those missions I skipped because of frustation, and replaying those I enjoyed.

I want to review the mission I had played quite sometimes ago but still very fresh in my mind because it's so memorable, EAGLE EYES BY KOHAKU, very hard mode.

Eagle Eyes is one of excellent missions I enjoyed tremendously. It's difficult, very challenging, and scary (with that many enemy snipers!) but I got a lot of satisfaction when completing the mission that I was sad that it's over.

At first, I thought this is another impossible mission, but things got better when I knocked down a couple of enemies, only to be surprised that their peer resumed the fallen enemy position and caught me off guard, it's brilliant but done right here, it's Adrenalin rush but there is enough time and space to plan how to counter that. Once I cleared the room and got Natasha, I was doubtful with her value, especially without uniform, but she proved to be tremendously valuable. And little by little, crawl by crawl, trials and errors, The Sniper went outside to take down necessary enemies with very careful calculation because of limited ammo and possible retaliation, especially when I still couldn't get rid of the geezer at the balcony but he proved to be a good bait.

The clue is also very clear, about the enemy sniper's position and identification. It's a pleasure to check the name one by one.

The scariest thing was to take down enemy sniper in close range, face to face, west style, whoever pulls the trigger fastest, and I had a long time trying to get the one hiding in the ruin at the end of the bridge, because he is too fast for me, and there is no way to get him from the back, until I found the way to distract him for a millisecond. The challenge is also how to obtain enough sniper bullets and risk your life to get to the dead enemy sniper.

I learned a lot from this mission, in fact, I had never tried shooting through window before the other way around when enemy is inside, but it is necessary in this mission and I wonder why I had never tried it before. It needs a lot of strategic thinking like how to use the explosive without Sapper, and how to strategically predict and counter the enemy's reactions. Resources are sparse but it's enough for the mission. This mission requires quick thinking, good timing (with still enough flexibility), quicker mouse action and I kept multiple saves just in case I miscalculate the bullets.

Overall, it's one of my favorite missions, it probably takes looong time before I replay it again as it's stressful but in super fun way.

P.s. Edited to highlight mission name

Ok I wanna know how you got out from that house, because after baiting as many enemies as I could (by just looking through windows while covering the door and by hitting that soldier on the balcony), I don't have enough ammo to kill anyone else and I also can't exit wtihout getting shot. Two gestapo guard the front gate while being covered themselves, and balcony escape also seems impossible. Tried shooting all the surrounding snipers, but still can't exit the building safely. I wonder if there's some trick to it. Also, after collecting some machine gun ammo, I tried killing the huge patrol outside by luring them inside and shooting them in various positions, but couldn't do it, so I guessed I'd have to play around them for a while. I hate sniper enemies in this mod, like, seriously xd  I'd rather deal with a 5 man patrol than a sniper. (playing on Normal difficulty).

Would be great to have more ammo, or an unlimited pistol *-*

If I remember correctly, this is how I did it.

20210213-142511.jpg
If the image doesn't show, this is the house holding Green Beret in original mission of Saving Private Smith.
There is a crazy sniper here who would kill Duke immediately if he gets out the balcony when the sniper is peeking out of window. But he alternates between peeking out the window and going inside. Duke could kill him while he is inside.

So Duke has to get out the balcony, time it well with knocking off Fatty on the balcony, and snipe this enemy through window, while he is inside (crucial strategic timing). I learned we could do this in this mission.

Once the crazy sniper is dead, there are couple of things Duke could do.

- clear the soldier below the balcony stair as he could investigate and ruins the plan. If he doesn't disturb, then you can do this later. I remember doing it early as I wanted to get the sniper's ammo (who is also there)

- check if there is any snipers that can be shot through window from opposite house. The main thing is Duke should be able to safe while lying on the balcony.

- have Natasha stands by inside by lying on second story overlooking the stair. She should be able to kill single or double incoming enemies.
Harvest the ammos from them once they are dead.

- wait until the patrol pass, while lying down, knock Fatty unconscious, no need to tie him, to bait the patrolling enemy that looking at him, they would run in to investigate and Natasha can kill them. Duke could go in and help if there are more than one running enemies.

- once the enemies that look at Fatty are clear, still, knock Fatty unconscious, the Duke could shoot a gun from balcony to bait non-stationery enemies that could hear him. Repeat until we clear of this. Then you can come out of the house.

- Or if you have enough ammo you can try to bait the patrol if they are only five.
But I remember leaving the patrol till the end, because there are more than five? (very hard difficulty) and eventually blow them up with dynamite. They have big route so we could sneak around them.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I managed to snipe snipers through windows, my main problem was how to get out of the starting house. I'll try the mission again, and save as much ammo as I can by knocking enemies coming into the house, then try to escape over the balcony, idk why I couldn't do it the first time, will see now. I'm playing on Normal and this mission is so hard but seems like it can be done, unlike the rest of the weird missions where I can only shake my head :D

oh btw, the patrol is like 9+leader, tried killing them with machine gun (on Normal it fires faster), would need a lot of reloading to get it right and I stopped at like 10 attempts haha

I didn't escape through balcony, I went out to the balcony to bait the enemy to the house by shooting gun, so they would come running inside, easier to manage and  to harvest their ammo. Once the enemies are reduced, we can exit through the door. It's been awhile, hopefully I remember correctly.

this mission is so hard but seems like it can be done, unlike the rest of the weird missions where I can only shake my head  :D

Same here  :smilehuh: I got very frustrated with many weird 'impossible' mission, especially I love this game so much and was so excited to have new missions. Actually the frustration is the reason I posted here. Along the way I found quite a lot of playable ones, but there are many more that I'm clueless and gave up.

oh btw, the patrol is like 9+leader, tried killing them with machine gun (on Normal it fires faster), would need a lot of reloading to get it right and I stopped at like 10 attempts haha

ohno, I believe that is the same number with mine (actually I'm not sure what is the difference with difficulty levels), in that case don't try to take the patrol because it's not possible to kill them with two commandos only (even with long rifles, the max is 8 enemies when ammo is full), I tried it too haha

I ignore them until almost the end of my mission, since they have big route, it is possible to ignore them.

I went to explore other area and manage to obtain some explosive.

Near the end I used this explosive to kill this patrolgroup. Put it on their path and then snipe the explosive.

Meanwhile, have finished couple of missions, will post more feedbacks soon.

Hammerfall (Extrano1955)

Classic fun
Resist the barrack, find strategic position to annihilate them and harvest ammo as quick as possible because they regenerate. Enough resources, enough commandos, good old times.

Counter Attack (Lin Yu Tain)

Got lost in the interior but for this mission I got quite familiar since it's the same with previous mission.
There is a quite a massive invasion, the key is to let Natasha hides outside, carrying a trap set by Driver. However she couldn't get inside the house they are hiding because there is an enemy standing there who recognize her.

So she kills one of the leaders near the house with trap, and snipe a running soldier because she needs to be safe and this soldier is running around. After that, snipe the other leader and then she is quitr well set to roam around, free to go inside the house to reload the trap. There is another leader who recognize her, and she ambushed him with long riffle.

The ambushing is super fun, when she walks around innocently then suddenly kill enemies and quickly goes back to disguise and pick up the ammo from the dead.
Some technical error, game crash everytime I loaded.

Salvation (Lin Yu Tain)
There are crazy amount of enemies,
many snipers. The unlimited machine gun is the most valuable thing. Duke is the most valuable player here. Lure the surrounding enemies to go inside and be killed by GB, but he also go for active killing, very useful because he has good range of sight.

Once the enemies near the house are dead, I use Duke to run the the edge (beware of snipers) quickly to get the attention of running swarm of soldier, then position himself at the right overlooking the ladder,
using machine gun to take whoever comes to investigate.

Since there are many enemies, this has to be done repeatedly, sometimes he doesn't have time to kill them all at the ladder and got killed, or sometimes GB needs to come out to help, or he has to hide inside the house, or lure them in.

To cross the bridge is more difficult, there is a sweet spot at upper left where Duke could snipe annoying Sniper as quick as possible and to bait the lone soldiers. GB has to be there to help. Once the area is clear enough he could run quickly to hide behind the house and do his damage from there, slowly approaching the three annoying snipers on the top. The rest would be easy.

Very very fun but challenging.

Enemy at the Front (Lin Yu Tain)

Quit playing this one because the map is so inaccurate, it's difficult to strategize and play.
Sea is land, land is sea.
There are hiding spot out of nowhere in midair. Enemies can see through building.
Too bad, as the mission looks potentially fun.

Lure Enemy To Trap (Lin Yu Tain)

Simple and straightforward
Quite easy, know where to hide when invasion is coming. Choose strategic placement by trial and error. Always love Fins and always make him steal GB's knife.

Infiltration (japan) (Lin Yu Tain)

Mission is to blow up dam.
This one fun, Fins is the first most valuable player, but only with the help
of Spy he frees the others
spy and then Duke takes control.
(It's really great when each commandos has their specific purposes in different part of mission).

I dislike mission when commandos are disabled from X (ambush), especially when they need to take big number of enemies. But this one, it works well, Duke is the only one who has ability to ambush, that is why he is the most valuable in later part of the mission and calculation is needed to give him best position and timing to take out enemies (especially there are multiple reinforcements from barracks if we take a resources or kill certain enemies).

Didn't use a single sniper bullet or molotov, I let Duke sneaking around with uniform, there are room to play and kill the enemies slowly one by one with help of spy. Identifying those who recognize spy is the key too. GB is 'tiny' bit useless. Fins took his knife and he doesn't have ability to ambush, not sure what is his purpose.
Clear interior first so that commandos have place to hide for reinforcement. Take out enemy snipers first.

Top Secret (Lin Yu Tain)

Nice new landscape, played similar map before but couldn't remember the mission.
Kill the one holding the gun first because he sort of ruining the fun.
Only use sniper bullet for him, and the rest were taken down manually. Doing a lot of fun hide and seek and chase, a little bit of fun with tank, too bad it can't cross the bridge.
Fun!

Snow action (Lin Yu Tain)

Played before, didn't remember much detail but the mission is playable, this is back then when I was discourage by this author's mission but stumble upon this that is playable, which eventually leads me to try another of his/her missions, and find a lot that I like.

Lin Yu Tain
Behind enemy line 1
Behind enemy line 2

Fun, quite challenging, single commandos which could be one of the great way, not too difficult not too easy, enough resources and not frustrating as there is always a way to get through the mission.
Invasion hectis but tanks help to kill a loy of enemies.
Duke needs to calculate strategic snipe.
Well done missions. Hope I don't forget anything but I'm sure there are more things to say, but in between of playing couple of mission, I could easily forget or mismatch some details.

Southern seas return to the ruins (hai....)

Amazing landscape, really love the work on the landscape, the rocks, ruins, wrecks, water, love it a lot, it looks very special

Fins has good shooting range so he goes on his own and kills a lot of enemies by himself including getting close to and kill all the snipers. GB helps once in while and he is crucial in bringing out the barrel.

Invasion is scary though, failed multiple times to find good spot, finally get a relatively safe spot at the beach but have to have good position.
Gb carries boxes of ammo there, and Sapper did the refill, after that sapper salvage and hunt himself too.
Cleared all the invasion, kill everyone, check everything else but not sure how to blow up the final tank???
Used all explosives on it but it never blown up. Not sure if it's a trick or glitch but don't find any clues. Grmbl

Small hand (haibo52313 lyt..

Sapper alone taking off tank, building and double invasion. Mission is not so easy but playable, the key is for the Sapper to hide in the tent when invasions arrive (both times), need good timing to take out enemies.

Sink the bismarck (Tianya)
Playable mission (used to try this author's mission but discouraged). The good way to clear the enemies is to bait them to go downstair, and when they are on the ladder, GB could go to stabby town. It's not always successful though, and there are one or two times we need to ambush them because stabbing is not fast enough.
Why do we have flamethrower though? Didn't find Sapper, did I miss something?

Again, I'm on the row of many unplayable quite frustrating missions (at least on first try)
These missions are not working, crash everytime:
Sneak attack pearl harbor,
Swat firefight,
The pursuit of tyre piez

Rogue ops (kop 555)

GB and Natasha
Fun at the beginning,
Got everyone but left patrol gestapo dan two soldier nearby them. Gestapo route is too short to get this two soldiers, they don't respond to cigarette.
No ambush, no alarm, no explosive, no sniper, how to kill????

Down to Hell (c5 extrano1955)
Actually like this one, finally get a playable mission again.
Short, sweet, straightforward, classic.

Rejected Shelter (C5 Extrano1955)

This one is fun too.
I love the landscape a lot, littlle corner, a lot of places to hide, beautiful arrangement, a lot of ways to play, and tricky way to get inside.

There is one big flaw, I have no idea how to get the Driver out of that area.
He is rescued by GB, he is the only one who could come inside by climbing the wall, it's tricky to kill the guards inside but I lure the patrol to the mezanine after rescuing Driver because I needed two commandos for successful ambush. To rescue Driver, it's needed to kill the guards in the perimeter. I placed commandos outside to distract them with gun, so GB could get close and kill them, then quickly hide their bodies. To get to them, he could crawl around the perimeter, there are blind spots the patrol couldn't see. Only when the patrols and their replacements are killed he couls go and kill Natasha, the dog and the Gestapo leader. They are easy, because they don't move, just hide strategically behind the statue so you can only be seen by the one you want to kill.

Like mentioned, don't know how to get the Driver out. I hadfl finished everything and dealt with the consequences of blowing up granaries etc, didn't find any ladder to get Sapper in or Driver out. Sapper doesn't need to come in, GB could just bring the explosive and shoot it with riffle to blow up radio building, but, how to get the Driver out???

Figured nothing else that I missed, so I teleport him out and the mission is finished once he drove them out, but I don't feel like it's good because there shouldn't be any teleportation, but I don't know to get him out.

Surrounded Conflict (C5 Extrano1955)

A glitch?? Or intended inconvenience? There is one soldier at the lower right near the tent that can not be killed. He has long range and ruins a lot of things if left alive. Nope.

(Panzer General) C5 Robb Extrano1955)

Not a fan of everything triggers timer and alarm, eventhough something as simple as gun shot for distraction, in remote area. It limits a lot of gameplay, which I'm sure it's intended, but it's not my cup of tea. Skipped couple of similar missions.

It's almost impossible to kill patrol, especially earlier.
However, I could sneak around in this mission which prove to be challenging and difficult, but it is possible, I even enjoyed it and manage to clear the map.. until.. the end when we need to destroy 3 tanks with just two oil trucks and barrel. It is just impossible not to get killed. You have to bait yourself to run to the tank eyesight in order for it to shoot the oil trucks that have to be parked nearby. And these three tanks are side by side, and alarm would be triggered with a lot of patrol coming out, and timer will be ongoing.
Tried multiple times but haven't found a way not to get killed. Too bad, I enjoyed the mission until this part. Frustrating. Such a dissapointing ending.

SINP5: Which soldier? I see all ok, maybe pressing º to hide interfaz?  we have recorded some time ago:

SINP6: You can use the smoke bombs ( on house ) and try to move the trucks, after exit, If the truck is in position you can blow it. There is also a guide:

Thanks Extrano, appreciate it, those videos are certainly helpful.

Surrounded Conflict (C5 Extrano1955)

Regarding the soldier that can't be killed, It is the one standing near the tent on the lower rightside. I had GB creeping behind him and tried to knife him but it doesn't work. Tried punching from the front, same thing.

Update: Tried to take a picture by opening the mission, but then decided to play it again. This time, it works! I wonder why.. so I continued to play and finish the mission. It's a fun mission, the key is to know where to ambush the patrol that keeps on coming, especially when there are more than one group in the same proximity.
As usual, I tried to play as much as I could without rising the alarm, including only knocking the guard at the gate so that I could take out those in his eyesights. And ambush the two gestapos that go there, that is when the alarm rang and it's all becomes hunting fun, designate one commandos to do the ammo fills so keep on taking incoming patrols. Kill guard who doesn't leave the post using distraction by other commandos. Good mission, had fun.

Damned Night Edition Plus (C5 Lin Yu Tain)

Played this quite sometimes ago, only now recall the name of the mission after I clicked it again. I love this mission, somewhere in my computer I save a video of exploding cars, all of them, in one go.

Hopefully I remember the details correctly, there is some small invasion, scary snipers, but nothing is impossible which makes it fun to play. Getting into the guard tower at upper left was one of the keypoint of the game, as well as getting rid of the snipers.
Enjoyed it a lot, definitely worth replaying it again sometimes.

Vertical Limit (Extrano1955 C5?? will check the author credit later on laptop)

May I ask, how do you guys manage to do those gorgeous scenery?
Is it from some other software or game and make it interactive in C2, because that is very impressive.
I remember the first one I stumbled upon is the Opera Enhanced, then the one with the Pyramid, then the Shipwreck, now the UFO! Love those great sceneries, keep up the great works, can't believe I could play my favorite games with so many new things today, very grateful.

So Vertical Limit is very enjoyable, at first I was a bit doubtful since GB doesn't have a proper space to hide and kept getting discovered until I found a sweet spot next to the guard on the right side. He has to keep on crawling position. Managed to neutralize the black lone gestapo leader and three other soldier and put them at the edge of the house so that they are not discovered. From there, it seems difficult for him to move forward so I switched to play Sapper and Duke.

Sapper managed to kill those on his hiding platform, and baited couple of others to go up when he knocked them. But he couldn't go down without being discovered, so I switched to Duke.

There is one scary sniper on his rooftop who looked back as soon as Duke crawls there, so he had to be snipe asap, and kills the rest, baits whoever enemies who wants to go up. Here, the alarm rang and slowly he proceed to get down and kill enemies, reunite with Sap, and they both make their way to GB.

Ambushing patrol on the stair is easy enough, it's the one near the starting point of GB that need coordination, to bait them into safe space for ambush. I utilize the trains so that they could help killing the ambushing soldiers (good idea with the trains, it also helps GB hide around in the beginning).

Enjoyed this mission a lot, but I couldn't check the 'Kill All Workers', have killed everyone, including the interiors, get the code but this remains unchecked and nothing happen when they board the lift.

About sinp 5; did you manage to win the invasion? you unlock it getting all bonus

About sinp 8; did you hide workers in doors? There is a little issue, If you hide a tied worker inside, you won´t be able to kill him never again, the objetivei is kill, not tie.

I wasn't aware there is an invasion, maybe I didn't get all the bonus books, because I thought in Mods most bonus doesn't give extra missions. Have a bit of time this weekend, will try it. Thanks.

Sinp 8, yes, I believe I have hide workers indoor, although I don't recall if there are any in worker uniform, but definitely dump a few, especially in early stage when I tried not to raise alarm. Maybe there is one coming up on Duke's roof that I tied and hid in rush. Oh well, it's okay if there is no invasion or other extra if I tick it right?

As said, very awesome scenery!
