Is it feasible to replace the attack damage "puffs" with a different effect, such as a blood splatter or something? I like that there's something visual to signify that damage is being done. Vanilla ROTWK didn't have such signifiers. Yet the puffs somehow feel a bit distracting or not "genuine" or "authentic" to the game. Almost like they're a placeholder for another, superior effect. And the combat feels a little less intense or grounded than it could if there was, say, blood or even a spark effect. Even a blood red puff could be good!
