Replacing Numenorean/Arnor Archer with Flaming Arrows

Hi,

I would like to ask for some guidance to replace a stock Numenorean/Arnor Archer model without the "flaming arrow" plane with a new one for BFME2. I am new to modding but read some tutorials that are on the page but I can't solve this and I am lost already.
I have decided to modify one mod that I had installed on one of my VMs, just for fun, and found Numenorean/Arnor Archer as a unit for summoning. I made it available for recruiting etc.. but couldn't make the flaming arrows work. I have looked at the model and it is missing the plane "firearowtip" and thus googled out a model that it has, https://www.the3rdag...tem-394?addview. The problem is that no matter what I do I cant make it working.

 

  • I have already found out that the model originaly exists in W3D.big (gunumnrean_skn.w3d) this one is without the flaming arrow plane. Next to this, another file with the same name labeled gunumnrean_sknl.w3d is right beneath the model.
  • I have created a custom *.big file (edited the one from the mode) and added the model and created (appeneded) the new art to the original assest.dat. I have kept everything else untouched, no difference.
  • I have tried to replace the gunumnrean_skn.w3d with the new one inside the W3D.big, no difference - still no fire arrow.
  • I have deleted the gunumnrean_sknl.w3d in the oroginal W3D.big and I was left with no model in the game, some differences but not what I wanted.
  • The unit.ini file refers to gunumnrean_skn but it seems it will not load up without the gunumnrean_sknl.

 

So, I am lost how to replace this and make it working. Any suggestion appreciated :)

Ok, I will answer myself. I have changed the HEX code and renamed the former model to a different name and made it work.
