Hello, new to the forums here, but not to modding. I’ve tried to create a new Rohan faction, and messed up the AI logic somehow, and can’t fix it back.
I’ve edited the SKIRMISHAIDATA.ini file in the _patch201ini file to add in the new Rohan faction (as an edited copy of MotW) and it didn’t work. Unfortunately somehow it broke the rest of the factions now, and all AI porters will only build farms and upgrade their fortresses instead of building barracks and other unit producing buildings. EXCEPT for MotW whose AI is still functioning normally, and the Angmar AI won’t even build anything at all. I’ve reset the SKIRMISHAIDATA.ini file back to the original code from the 2.01 patch, but that won’t fix it. I didn’t find any other posts about this on this forum, T3A, or google, and I’m stumped. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi,

I don´t have a solution, just the same problem.
Tought I´d join in, in hopes of some clever fellow to provide us with a solution :)

I originally tried to edit the "aiskirmish.ini" file using FileBig, to get the ai to not use siege (following this guide; https://forums.revor...pultsballistas/) - the percentage of command point solution. (I like to turtle, dont judge)
Apparently something went wrong, although I could swear that I was careful not to mess with anything else. I made a copy of the .ini files that I edited, in case something went wrong. When the Ai started bugging I just overwrote the edited .ini files with the original copies, hoping that would reset stuff. I edited the "################202_v9.0.0" file.
I fully admit that I probably didnt do it the correct way, it just seemed simple, and I figured if something went wrong it would be easy to reset.
Currently I´ve reinstalled the game 6 times, starting with just the 9.0 version, most recently fully uninstalling the base games, mods, and any file related to the game from my computer.
The Ai is still buggy, only building farms, upgrading the fortress and building a few heroes. The human ai is still working for some reason though.. Scoured the interweb for solutions, but couldnt find any.

Am I doomed to forever play with 7 men of the west Ai´s in skirmish? :´(

I had that bug a looooooong time ago when i worked directly on ini.big and edited skirmishaidata.ini

never knew why it happened but the only way i could get AI working again was just to re install the game and revert to original skirmishaidata.ini (just reverting the file without re installing would not fix anything, it was really strange)

after i moved to working with -mod command and i never got an issue again with editing skirmishaidata

Hey there,

Thanks for the reply - while I couldn´t figure out how to revert the files, it led me to a solution. Turns out there are some files hidden in an obscure folder, that was overruling any changes I made. Deleting those fixed the AI completely. This thread explains it better; https://forums.revor...able-to-revert/
As you mentioned, I think my problems came from editing the ini.big file directly and not -modding it. Im currently messing around with the -mod stuff and it seem to work so far.

Thanks for the help :)

Ah ye, you probably talk about VirtualStore
it already caused me some issues before but i didn't had the knowledge at the time probably and was still a strange issue

now on my windows installs i always disable UAC and VirtualStore so windows no longer messes up with "protected" locations and nothing is being sent there anymore

UAC can be disabled directly into windows or the registry and virtualstore can be disabled with the group policy editor
