Good Evening!

The new C&C update that released the 27th of Feb Broke the game for me.

Now when i try log in Red alert 3 online it tries to log into the gamespy servers, plus Tib Wars 3 and Kane's Wrath now give "CA public key patching routine failed" as an error.

i tried Hooking/unhooking and reinstalling both C&C online & the affected games but to no avail.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I hope the issue can be fixed soon and i wish you a nice day!

P.S. I'm playing the Steam version of the games.

I just responded in another thread that this is my experience as well. I have Ultimate Collection through the EA app. Now, RA3 won't launch at all, hooked or not hooked. Generals and C&C3 launch fine only when not hooked.

I got the Steam version and that lets me launch RA3, both hooked and not hooked. But the Online won't work anymore. Same for my friend with his Steam version.

found fix, just delete the file from SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3  "RA3_1.13.SkuDef"   Steam edition.

I don't see this file. I see RA3_English_1.13.SkuDef, and various other languages. Is that what you mean?

Ok, I tried that file with "English" in the name and yes, it now let's me connect to C&C Online again. I can still only launch the Steam version of the game, though. The EA app still gives me this error when I try to launch (and it doesn't have "..._1.13.SkuDef" in the game folder anyway):

"Game not installed

Go to your library to double-check...installed properly. If...installed...repair files."

Doing a repair does nothing. The game files absolutely exist. If I try to launch with the .exe file, I get a whole different round of issues of it trying to authenticate the product key and logging into Origin and stuff.

I made an open source alternative to the official CnC-Online launcher some time ago, It works on Windows and also on Linux/Proton.
Latest 1.13 update (RA3) released on 28th February 2025 did not break it.

https://github.com/xan105/CnC-Online

1. Rename opencnconline.dll to winmm.dll and copy it next to the game's executable, ie:

  • for RA3: %GAMEDIR%\Data\winmm.dll
  • for Kane's Wrath: %GAMEDIR%\RetailExe\1.3\winmm.dll
  • for Tiberium Wars: %GAMEDIR%\RetailExe\1.10\winmm.dll
  • for Zero Hour: %GAMEDIR%\winmm.dll

2. (Linux/Proton) Open up the game properties in Steam and add WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b" %command% to the launch options.

3. Launch the game as you would normally do.

Hello!

I can confirm that removing the "RA3_English_1.13.SkuDef" File works and the game now connects to the C&C online servers.

Out of curiosity i tried removing "CNC3EP1_english_1.3.SkuDef" from Kane's Wrath and it works!

Thanks for the help!

i hope you all have a nice rest of the day!

I also had this problem, I thought the error popped up when I was downloading files for one map, but apparently this problem affected more than just me. I reinstalled the game and the revora app, but honestly, the game wants to connect to gamespy's servers and show me error. Thanks for read and hope it will be fix

Installed the update for C&C Tiberium Wars. It gave me 5 new scenarios. I was overjoyed. Unfortunately each one of them crashes and gives me a long list of errors. All the original scenarios still work.

I use the game via Steam on my PC

Kane's Wrath works fine. New scenarios and old are all ok. When I play 'Tiberium Wars' that is where it crashes if I try to open one of the 5 new scenarios.

Error report attached

This sounds easy enough, and I'm looking through your github for more information, but I don't see any opencnconline.dll. Where is this?

I found it. I got this working for RA3 with no C&C Online Hook, but it's not working for Kane's Wrath. I am able to go online by "deleting" the 1.3.SkuDef file and using the hook, though.

Thanks for the report. I haven't had the time to check all the games with the new update yet—just RA3.
Edit: They updated their server and allowed new game version to connect, so C&C3 is fine as well now.

Go to that github link and on the right side of the screen you'll see "Releases" with "Open C&C:Online" underneath it. Click that release and scroll to the bottom to download opencnconline.7z and the .dll you're looking for is in that zipped folder. However, with the new Tacitus update replacing C&C Online, you may not need to do this anymore.
