Hello. This can be caused by a multitude of issues, such as your ISP blocking some of the game's connections, being behind a carrier-grade NAT, or specifically in the case Red Alert 3, two people sharing the same network to play online. If two people are trying to get online on the same network, one of them must use a VPN. Now the common troubleshooting steps for causes of connection failure are:
- Restrictive Firewall: You have to check whether your Windows Firewall is blocking the connection, and also check inside your router/modem settings to make sure that the modem firewall is not set to a restrictive mode (being active is ok; restrictive mode is usually a slider or a drop-down menu setting that can be set from low to high, and being on high would block some of the game's connections).
- If there seems to be no problems with the firewalls, you must use your modem settings to forward the port range of 6500 to 65535 of the UDP protocol to your computer.
- If port forwarding didn't seem to work, temporarily DMZ your computer inside your modem settings.
- if both of the above failed, test with a VPN. But it's important to note that not all VPNs work correctly, because many of them does not allow NAT. You can give Privado a try, which has been tested previously by our staff. A guide is available here.
- If everything is still failing, this is most likely an issue with your ISP. You'd have to contact them to resolve the issue.
