Genre: Action/Spy fantasy
Basic Idea: The idea behind this mod is to give people an insite into the causes behind the Black Mesa Disaster. The mod will start around 2 days before the incident which your charater causes.
Story: You are Jack Dwyer, secret Agent for the XDO (Xerox Defence organisation). Which was set up by the 4 leading world powers in order to prevent terrorist organisations in gaining world supremisy.
For some time now the XDO has been suspitious of the Black Mesa Research facility in America. The has been many rumors about large illegal experimentation in labs deeper under publicly known labs.
Also there has thought to of been government funding coming from a peticular individual code named "G-MAN". Who has been seen entering and leaving an increased number of times over the past few months. Along with increaced shipments of unknown good entering the complex.
You task will be to infiltrate the Black Mesa complex posing as a Mechanic, find these secret labs and destroy/sabotage anything that may pose a risk to the known world.

I had an idea to make it some what comical by adding references to other games and films a bit like Blood and Duke Nukem 3D use to.
I'm gunna take on board your ideas and then mix and match all that i have so far. This is still concept design after all and nothing is set in stone
Anyway if it does end up using the XDO idea or something similar this is what their in-game logo will look like...

Make yourself a heavy weapons agent and the player will be the smart sidekick (as HL AI can't be the smart sidekick).
... This idea is quite unique. Putting yourself in a mod for others to play with in a single player missin would be very intresting. You could even have your own voice to help guide them trough and make "that was left handed" one-liners.
I wounder if thats where Barny and Otis came from

I'll have to write down each of these ideas, as i am still a bit dubious about what i now want to achieve.
One this is for sure, i want to do a form of spy Mod which is also a Prequal to the Half-Life Storyline.
Another thought i had, thinking of those in-game references, was to create a Mod which will allow you to play through several different past FPS.
For example:
you go to the lab, put on your suit and the first game you get thrown into is Wolfenstein 3d. The next is Doom, then Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Blood...
...Basically going through the history of FPS games.
BUT due to Copywrite i'll have to give each of the games a different name etc.

Now lets think about the name game names:
Wolfenstein 3d - "Wolfed in 3d"
Doom - "Doomed"
Quake - "Quaker"
Duke Nukem 3d - "Duke Nuked em"
Blood - "Gore"
All i need to do now is to look through the games and plan which levels to convert for the mod. That may take some time...
If anyone has any further ideas which i should implement into this mod please post them up
In the mean time here are a few shot of work i've create in the past. (Note: None of these were publically released)

I think this is going to be one hell of a big mod, the difficult part will be to find people to help in the production of it. If i did it all myself it'll probably take 5 - 6 years
BTW Detail can you recomend 3-4 levels from Quake i should try to reproduce for the mod. I don't have the full game so i'm a bit helpless at the moment

You could make the mod level by level. This way it's as big as you want it to be. You make the Quake end boss level and you release it. Then you make a Doom level and release both... so on. Bit by bit.
I no longer own Quake 1, so i can't help you.

Anyway what i was thinking of was to re-create 3 levels from each game. This gives the play a sufficient amount of time in each game before progressing into the next
Basic Mod story line:
You (Gordon Freeman) go to the IGL (International Gaming Labs) wing of the Black Mesa Research Facility on your way back from the Hazard course. The Scientist at IGL have asked you to test out their new virtual reality system which will eventually be used for training future employees.
They have specially modified a HEV suit ready for immediate testing, so you suit up and they begin the program. But there is a power surge and the whole section loses power. The computer system crashes and you brainwaves get traped inside the VR suit. But not only that, the computer network transfers all other programs which were running at the time of the crash in order to safely back up the files.
The scientist try desperatly to transfer control to your body but they can't remove any programs through risk of killing you. So you have to purge your VR suit of the backed up programs in order to gain back full control and exit the VR world.

To make this fit in with HL, you could play the role of scientist (or a security guard). In his lunch break, him and some other scientists make VR games for fun. One day while thay were working with a modded HEV suit there was a power surge (caused by Gordon in another lab) and everything goes tits up for them.
This way you don't have the lame sounding IGL and it fits in with the rest of the HL story

Thats what shall happen then. A Scientist and his friends, in one of the black mesa labs, were testing out some of their new VR games when the "Gordon Freeman incident" causes the whole test to go tits up and basically you know the rest
Hmmm it all seems to be taking shape...
...slowly
Currently im laying out how the game will progress and finally end. as well as jotting down some notes. Once thats all down i'll post it up

The good thing about that is that i can take that level out of the game and edit it so it fits in with the mod
