Breaking up the Redalert 2 Mod section

Pretty much what the topic says.. right now it's simply too large to navigate.
At times a person (e.g. me :p ) has to dig through 3 or 4 layers to find a post. ^_^

One way to make it easier to nav. is to remove the Ra2 and/or YR icons under each title. Nobody really looks at those, but they make it a long scroll down. :(

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Andre 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I don't think the length of scroll is a problem, and removing the icons wouldn't help much at all. They make it easier to see what game a mod is for. As for the multiple levels, that's just a problem with the new network. We are looking at ways to make accessing subforums easier, but for right now, this is going to have to work.

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

As Revora grows, are aiming for a sub-forum culture.
At the same time, we still want the forums to be easy to navigate and find topics. If you have any ideas for making the RA2 section easier to navigate please say.

The icons should go, dispite what mastermind2004 said, they're simply not needed. It's the Red Alert 2 Mod section for crying out loud.. !!!

Removing the icons should at least reduce the scroll-time.
As for a new layout with the sub-forums.. i'll give it some thought.

Icons are there to show if the mod is for RA2, YR or both. There needed.
If the images were removed, text saying what mod there for would be put in there place.

Andre is right though, a br and image eat more space than a [RA2] / [YR] in the end of the descriptions. Perhaps the icons should go in the subforum in the index only, and then each mod is specified on its description with a tag.

Agreed. Just color code it, RA2 will be in red font, YR will be in yellow, something like that.

Removing the icons will make no diffirence. There will still be a gap and then the [View Site] box. The view site part will not be moved, as it would make the list to hard to read.

My suggestion were only ment to make the forum more accessable, but if you want to keep navigating the forum like walking into a brick wall..

I agree with D. Its pointless removing the Icon. It will not shorten the distance because as he said we have a line brake <br /> and then the [View Site] part. Maybe we could possible find another way to categorize. Problem is we don't want to have it so it takes ages to get into a mod. E.g.

Index -> Red Alert 2 Modifications -> Yuri's Revenge Modifications -> Mod Name -> Staff Forum

That would take 4 Clicks just to get into the staff forum. Its not really that hard to scroll Andre. If it hurts your arm moving the mouse, get a mouse with a scroller on

That's still no excuse for a lousy setup of the forum.

The excuse is simple: This is IPB and IPB sucks heavly bad. IPB has no subforum icons that ptirhik's subcat mod for phpBB has. So, you are asking for something they can't do, unless mastermind give a try, but he seems to be busy with a lot of stuff already.
