Any help would be cool.

You won't find one, because there isn't...
it's all hard coded, red alert was first game to have ini files. :)

I never knew about the lack of ini files in TD before (never really bothered to find out), so now I'm interested in a response to that too.

They use HEX editors
Natus 3.4

Corrupt program now requires constant reboots and does not function at all in majority of instances. Designed with a web browser component to replace AOL, it has exceeded our expectations by being more crashy and unreliable and with worse tech support. We didn't think it was physically possible! A general product recall is advised; when it does function it seems to require background processes Girl 0.1Beta to stave off further crashes. Will someone PLEASE remove that code, and insert Backbone 1.9 in its place? That's assuming we even bother to continue this prog.

I never really tried modding TD... although the only mods I've played only modified the graphics and sounds, which are in the MIX files.

LOL @ the uninformed one

There are actually several tools for editing both DOS C&C and C&C95... and I am working on a tool to make patches for C&C95.

It's so much easier than including the entire 1.10 mb exe file every time >_<

The only good one is UGE... originally a completely customizable savegame editor, but someone once started making modules for it to identify C&C95.exe data.

I finished those modules, and put them up for download at the C&C Filezone, but I've worked on them since I uploaded them there... like, now they have
"c:\westwood\C&C95\C&C95.exe"
as default file to edit. On the currently uploaded version you still have to go and change the settings for all modules and point them to that file.

UGE is a DOS text mode program, and a pretty old one, so it works perfectly on any Windows/DOS system.

Also, as I said, up until now, the only way of distributing mods that changed C&C95.exe data was to include the entire modified file and replace C&C95.exe by it. But now my bro wrote a small command line-only byte editor for me (changes one specific byte at one specific location in one specific file) I can apply the changes I made in my C&C95.exe with a simple batch install script.

well, the only mod I can recoll playing was C&C Meets Star Wars... in which I'm sure your familiar with :) keep up the good work, and when you finish any of your editing tools, I'd love to host them at C&C Central.

Nope, in his C&C directory. File is called conquer.ini

No rules in there, but you can do really neat stuff with that too.
Try setting the GameSpeed value to 300. Reeally funny. The higher the value, the slower the game, so put it on 300 and load a savegame where you have most of the map revealed, and you can scroll through a frozen world :)

Anyway... anyone that wants the updated UGE can get it at the C&C Filezone:

I miss these tags

Closable=yes
ClosedMultiple = How many times stronger this building is when it is "closed" (def=1)

I always wonder why a SAM site which wasn't exposed took ages to kill :D

wtf? There IS no rules.ini in C&C1... :D

I tested that one in both DOS C&C and C&C95... didn't affect the game at all. It is really handy to have all weapon stats though. Will make my search for these data in C&C95.exe a LOT easier.

[edit]

Oh. My. God. I looked all the way through it, and there's no doubt about it. This is REAL :)

Now, where DID you get that from? And what C&C do you have? A mac version or something?
