This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Andre 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

This isn't Doom 3 we're talking about. HL2 won't need an über computer to play it.

I'd say add a few hundred megahertz to the processor, the GFX card being at least 64mb and ensure your hard drive has a few gigs free. Lately games seem to eat hard drives like Pac-Man, so I wouldn't expect HL2 to be easy on it, either.

It won't be released next month. What the fuck are you on? Valve and Vivendi are in court. They can't just release it. Vivendi wants Valve to back down, and Vivendi's got the HL2 Release Candidate held hostage.
Which means it's probably in it's original packaging awaiting resolution of the law suit.

That sounds like a built it yourself box.
HL2 is supposed to work well on any PC with scale options. Though i don't see much point in running HL2 on its lowest settings, might aswell play HL1.

Get a demo. Only problem is one time I did that and the demo worked fine but the real game was too intensive for my old comp. That sucked.
