Over the weekend I copied all my modding files to my other (XP) computer from the Win98 one I had been working on for the past 5 years, so I didn’t get any new pics done like I said I would & it might be a while before I do as I now have about 50,000 files to sort out

At least now I can use Gmax/3DS Max (the 98 doesn’t have any 3D Gfx card), I also have the MX 2004 & Adobe CS programes on the XP were as the 98 only had Photoshop v5...

Hw to make RA2 work on XP:

ON all exe files you run, righmout, go to settings -> compatability mode and set it to Win98SE. Should work then, if you run that exe file

It's strange though... i've never had any problems with Ra2/YR and XP

Some folks need to use the win98 compatibility though. It's probably connected to the drivers for gfx/sound card for XP.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Andre 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

That was the first thing I tried & it still wont work, it's a lot more then just a compatability problem...

If you just upgraded to SP2, try turning of the Internet Connection Firewall. It seems to do nasty things to lots of programs. I just use Zonealarm instead.

Did you try a new install of Ra2/YR ?

Several times...

I have contacted EA technical support & I’m waiting for them to get back to me, but another problem I have is that I can’t login to my e-mail so even if they do know how to fix it I wont find out until my e-mail is fixed too ;)

I spent 5 years on the same old Win98 computer & never had any problems at all, now I changed to XP & everything is just fecked up!!! If I can't get this sorted by next week I'm going back to my dependable Win98.

This is a bit like the tortoise & the hare, the tortoise may be slow but at least it doesn’t keep stopping & starting every 5min ;)

I read about a XP fix for YR somewhere, perhaps from Dcoder?

Edit: perhaps it's the DirectX driver. ;)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I'm just hosting it, it was made by Saberhawk (XRML development team).

Here's a link: http://dcoder.cannis...2_YR_Update.zip

It's not a 100% fix, but it works. It also increases the game load speed. And disables CD-check on startup, I think.
