At the moment, I'm using mozilla composer to make my website. Howver, this doesn't seem to like php, in that I have to add php tags afterwards in notepad, and if I then reload the page in Mozilla it deletes them again... :p Any suggestions?

I use Dreamweaver MX 2004, 30 day trial then buy if like. Thats the only drawback. But it does all the languages, php, html, javascript, all but flash :p. Thats where Flash MX 2004 comes in handy. For images it's Fireworks MX 2004. But if you do not like Fireworks MX 2004, there is always Adobe Photoshop. Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and Flash are all Macromedia products. But I use them for all my site needs. Try, you might like them :).

I use Maguma Studios, but that's for straight PHP, with a little HTML for formatting.

Well, when it comes to writing an expository essay about counter-insurgent tactics, I'm of the old school. First you tell them how you're going to kill them. Then you kill them. Then you tell them how you just killed them.

well Photoshop for all my 2d design needs, and i use frontpage with dreamweaver MX 2004. but now that i went fully with flash, no need for any ;) flash coding is pretty much the same. like php and javascript put together.

i would advice anyone to learn flash since you are able to make amazing stuff there. its pretty much a 32bit animation with interactive options, buttons and user input capability. for game site, best thing is to integrate (html/php/etc. with flash), but sometimes pure flash is nicer for more effects.

It is very powerful and you can do almost anything with it ecept if you lack art skills. I use Dreamweaver MX. Can't beat it. Macromedia is the Microsoft of web disgn, Between DW, PS, Fireworks, Flash. They pawn everyone with the cross program compability.

Notepad for coding PHP
Textedit for coding HTML
JCreator for coding Java (been having troubles installing java on comp properly)
Dev-C++ for coding C++
Notepade or Wordpad for everything else, that I don't code as often as the above.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

If I'm doing something short and simple, I use it. I can fix most any script problem people are having with stuff here with nothing more than notepad. Maguma is for the big stuff, like the new scripts I'll be rolling out here soon.

The syntax highlighting from UltraEdit is so handy... Don't know what I should do without it.

Maguma studios has full syntax highlighting, plus it understands PHP, so it will show you things like what { is linked with the } you just put in, and the linking of ( ) and other things. It's a very useful program that is basically free, as the company who made it is no longer supporting it.

You know what is funny? If you download the Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and when it goes to install you can click activate, and somehow if you have a spare s/n lying around your house(or google) you can get the entire program.

It works with all MX programs.

I've tried, and it worked.

I have one question. How can you get a image in the text field (in Flash MX)?

Just add a background field into your CSS file.
.input {

background: mypic.gif/jpg/etc.

}
