Basically, you've gotta write a really sparkley CV, and with that a pack of example pieces (renders, animations etc) to show that your work is better than everyone elses (known as a showreel)
Then, send it around. Then bug them politly for feedback untill you get a response!

Righty, back on topic...
I'm thinking maybe...
hmmm... nah.
*Note to self: gotta watch Top Gear more often...
EDIT= You know how badly timed sports car photographs capture the rear-end-of-car-leaving-view shots, well, this kinda sums up a Lada...
So I'm gonna start on a new car. But which...?

Wow.. It's been forever since I posted here. Anyway, There's alot more resources availible now for learning car modelling. Obviously there's a million and one ways to model a car but here's a nice tutorial at CGTalk and PoisonCG has one for makeing a Lamborghini Murcilago!
I realize you weren't asking for any tutorials, but it might help you decide what car you want to make.

Thanks for that Chrono.
I have to say this now, not just to you chrono but everyone else who's messaged me pointing me to tutorials.
I KNOW HOW TO MAKE CARS! JUST BECAUSE I HAVEN'T FINISHED ANY DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE THEM!
Ok, with that out the way, you should all know now I have no problem making them, I just have problems choosing one.
My mind is made up now, I'm making a Skoda 105
So live with it, and I'm willing to bet I can make it look good too!! Watch this space!!

well, either I've come to my senses or sobered up. I take this statement back. Let's face it, that's impossible. "Skoda 105" and "look good" should never end up in the same sentance.
So I'm doing somthing something else that can plausibly look good, while still being fairly unique.
I'm now making a Ferrari Type 555 'Super Squalo', a star of Formula 1 racing from the mid '50s, one sexeh beast.

Windscreen, wing mirrors, steering wheel.
Also cut out the engine hood, which you can just about see there, and cut the opening where the suspention, tortion bars, steering rods etc connect the wheels to the car. I'll be making them next, I haven't been looking forward to that
