I don't know, I will be removing the Amphibious mode from the troop crawlers, and then remaking the amphibious transports from the US to fit China and the GLA, so that way every side has a way to transport their units across water.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

If by 'remaking the amphibious transports' , you mean eliminating amphibious APC's and going back to the Generals default hovercraft only, I don't know about that. I would prefer having both options available to me. Here's why. Many of the prebuilt maps out there on the net, don't have much water built into them. Maybe some small channel(s) worth of water. Sometimes there are small islands within these channels of water. Some even have tech artillery or other buildings on them and have just one way on to the island (excluding air drops).

Anyway, in most of these cases building a naval yard nearby the channel, mini-lake, or whatever, and then buying and deploying a ship or transport is impractical and wasteful. Loading units on these ships just to take them upstream about what, and inch, sometimes less? No, these are the times that amphibious APC's are worth their weight in gold.

The solution that I envision, would be to make one type of amphibious APC's (or other vehicle, as would the case be for the GLA) available to each side as part of the "Advanced Training" button, after the strategy center has been built. Until the "advanced training for amphibious operations" is achieved, the amphibious APC would operate as a normal land only APC.

Another option would be to offer it as a promotion item in the general's promotion window. (Although as a gamer, I would prefer the first idea better, naturally)

I would also recommend (and as you have already mentioned) a transport of some sort that would be built at the ship yard so that larger units (Tanks, artillery, etc.) can be loaded and deployed for the larger water areas. (Rivers, lakes, oceans, etc.)

My vision of this would be to have TWO types of transports be available to the gamers at the naval shipyard. The first one would be the original small hover craft like the one in the original game (just better skinned I would hope). And the second would be a larger landing craft or ship that could deploy up to 10 (or more) individual units of space. The individual units themselves would take up X amount of space. X would equal:

Infantry - 1 unit of space.
Small to med. tanks - 2 units of space.
Artillery and MRLS - 3 units of space.
Mobile barracks unit - 4 units of space.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth. I hope this helps.

More ramblings on to come. ;-)

Your right, I may just leave them in there, and the fact is, that the AI will move their TC's over into the water and have them sit there trying to attack, but they can't that is the only problem.

BTW, Bob do you have an IM program?

Just makes it that much nicer to pick them off! :p

Seriously though, I think that's just one of many issues EA Games should have addressed with the game. But I'm betting they moved on to bigger and better projects.
