WoW! Everyone is so Waaagh-envious! Except for the first one, I love 'em all! Really like the Eldar, Chaos (Bloodthirster is in a cool position), and of course Mr. Dawn Of Waaaaaaaaggghhhhhhh! I guess that settles it. We'll use the Waaagh One and *then perhaps* on subsequent releases have a new panel just to keep the public think'n.

Now.. have to design a desktop icon. Most that I've seen have the usual Posted Image but I don't have a .ico builder. Anyone know what format icons are in so I can quickly design a funky one? Is there a JPG/BMP/GIF->.ICO creator?

Thanks everyone for your input. Things be a happen'n!

Yup the Orky one is cool.

The gretchin looking at the sign clinch it

Very nice shot

Icons used to be just bmp files with their file extensions renamed to .ico but my current installer doesnt recognise them as icons and wont use them. XP still does though.

Yep.. that did it! Save the format to BMP and rename to ICO and yer golden! Brillant!

As for the Waaagh Pix.. yea that one came to me when I kinda got a little drunk on white wine >Burp!< .. Still waking up to a minor headache. Amazing how inspiration can come at the rim of a full glass. And that was the last pic of the nite when I was damn tired. I looked at the Orks, designed the base with Warboss think'n: "there has to be something funny here - its the Orks!" I love the Grots (hilarious little guys!!) so decided on the Tote Board with Warboss giving instructions to them wee little green beasties.

You won't have to.. Cadian Inquisition, for example, had its icon similar to ours with the attached text:

Warhammer 40,000 Cadian Inquisition

Have it on my desktop. ..

Now, we could just do:

War40k: Dawn Of Skirmish <revision #>

or simply..

Dawn Of Skirmish <revision #>

Just regular icon text attached below the icon itself. Its the text anyone can rename after the shortcut is created. Doesn't need to be a text bmp attached to the icon. If so, then yes it would have to be condensed. Lets just create the Icon and the windows text right below it.

Icon: Dawn Of Skirmish <revision #>
Icon Tooltip: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of Skirmish AI Mod <revision #>
StartMenu Folder: Dawn Of War Skirmish AI Mod
Start Menu Launcher: Run Dawn Of Skirmish AI Mod <revision #>
Start Menu Uninstall: Remove Dawn Of Skirmish AI Mod

I checked the Icon text size. I think its best to keep it ~20 characters or else it starts getting to 4 lines which is silly.

No no.. the < > was to denote an arbitary variable inside ie.

<revision # > = v0.11 or 0.11

<installed DoW Folder> = c:\program files\thq\dawn of war

Very soon now!

I'll have to write up a list of changes, disclaimers on "not responsible for damages to computer due to our mod", some reasons why the AI may not work on some maps (ie. certain startpoints on various official DoW maps cause the Eldar to not work) + maps with very few checkpoints to capture cause the AI to really slow down everything it does due to lack of cash..

Otherwise, I think we can go release this week. Yehaaaa!
