I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I checked and didn't see anything on the surface...
What is the best/easiest way to convert W3D and Texture files to .3DS format? Is it as simple as typing .3ds into the filename? I wouldn't think so, but you never know...
I would just like to know which utilitiy or tool to use, and a brief summary on how to convert it, unless the program come with good readme, then don't waste your fingers typing up something.
Thanks in advance!!!!!

That Coolfile importer also works for 3ds Max. Even imports animations. Best I've found yet. Only thing is in 3ds max the button shows up invivisble on the top bar, but if you can find the button, it works. Hint look for the empty spot.
Comes with a good readme file...

I downloaded the Coolfile W3Dimporter, and it has a great readme for GMAX, but not for 3DS format, and I can't seem to convert from gmax to 3ds.
Though, I'm not sure how much you all would be able to help me. I don't have 3D Studio, but a freeware program that can manipulate and animate 3DS models called OpenFX. So I will probably have to play around and see what I can do to figure it out.

Use Renx(Gmax) than. At least you'll be working with the same free 3d program the rest of us are familiar with.
