Hello. I am trying to skin a model of a Mig-21 fishbed for use in generals. For some reason, when ever i use planar map to try and set the skin on my model, a strange mess of vertices shows up in the edit screen. When ever I try to move it, it just automatically moves back and I cannot get rid of it. This is strange because I have only had this problem a couple of times before, once with another Mig-21, and another with a T-90 I created. I am able to skin my T-90 perfectly without this problem occuring. What do I do?

I haven't experienced this very often, I find it happens when 1 UVW Unwrap modifier is applied to more than 1 object.
Convert them back to editable mesh, make sure only 1 object is selected and apply the unwrap again.
If that doesn't work, post up here and someone else might help you, but I'm afraid I'm off for army training tomoro
