Riiight. However, with all this discussion of auto vs 3/4 round burst talk, dont you think its a bit crummy that in DOW your opponents dont self-implode as hundreds of bolter shells explode within their guts? Id looove to see the enemy be slaughtered that way lol.

Thats the case with me anyway.... ;)

I don't think they would self implode but rather be ripped apart from the inside out or just torn to shreds...
As the bolters fire armorpiercing explosive shells, they enter someone first before exploding..

It would blow some nice chunks out someone if you hit him with a 7.5CM RPG-like projectile..

Yeah, but a 0.75" projectile is somewhat smaller ^_^

So for future releases, how about using the weapon switch code and have the choice between single shot and burst?

is'nt that a littlebit too much for the infantry in this project??

i can imagine a game like Rival Species for halflife has this in, as first person shooter, but a strategic game like C&C.... seems just a slight bit of overkill to me if you'd ask ^_^

I think it will add a deeper tactical element to the game, having the choice between guarding a sector with long-range accrate single shots and storming in with Rhinos and pouring fire into everything that moves.
Same goes for Lasguns and Pulserifles.

But I'm not too familiar with the Generals codes, so this may be a lot of work?

it would be annoying I think, with the scale of the games and the lifespan of unit, yes it would add an advantage... but the advantage would be lost very quickly if the enemy's advancing... basically it wouldn't be viable...

I stand with Cal here, he's absolutely right, it just is'nt viable..

I remember only 1 strategical game before where such a feature was built in (Warzone2100) and all it gave was alot of extra clicking to set each unit.

ahh yes... that game...

10 miliion possible orders for every unit and all you end up doing i nthe end is building a huge army of big ass cannon armed things and charging in to the enemy base:P

And then being caught by the computer which had just a slightly bigger army then yours and you were screwed :p

odd game that was..

but back on topic, i just don't think it is a good option for OW to have units with chooseble weaponfire modes like burst or singleshot
